We just keep being told our Conveyencer is "unavailable" its very frustrating. We know all our seraches are back, mortgage is all done and dusted, we're just waiting for her to finish her enquiries!! Wish we just knew what they were!
House purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.

Hang in there everyone it is worth it

Do they have a freephone or low rate number? If so, ring them and when they say she's unavailable, just say "that's ok I'll hold......."

You'd be surprised how often that gets you through to the person you want to speak to!

When we have offered to hold they just point blank won't put us though!! It makes me want to kick something, especally at the bottom of all letters the ending line "rest assured we'll keep you updated with any progress" it just feels like they aren't!

Dont you just love mission statements!

Are they a local firm? Pop round there if so..... I wish we'd gone local, much better to pop round there to ring necks, rather to do it over the phone!

I understand your frustration, we had to wait 6 weeks for our mortgage offer, so I know what it feels like to wait and nothing happens  !

Our solicitor is also hard to get hold off, but the company's website has a client section, where you can login with a password and check the process of your case. This has been very handy, as the solicitor keeps it updated whenever progress happens. Just found out today through this website that he has now received our search results and will be writing to us today.

Nothing much has happened this week apart from the search results coming in. Seems like everything takes ages, but I suppose we are approaching the final stages. I just can't see how much longer this could possibly drag on without exchange and completion taking place?! We've had to hand in our notice to our landlord, so by the end of November will either have moved into our own home (best case scenario) or with my mother-in-law (please God, no!!!).

They are local but unfortunately we work in London so can't really pop in, its a family run practice along with the estate agent who we sold our flat through, one partner is dealing with us and the other (our Conveyencers Dad) is dealing with our buyer, we used them when we brought our flat too and they were much faster than they are now!

You would think they can discuss it over breakfast wouldn't they ha ha!

Must admit though it seems to be our purchase she is taking her time with!

At least now I'm now so upset that we didnt go local.... they dont sound any better than what we've already got!
  • Thought i would put my bit in, I know it is late but better late than never. I had an offer accepted on the 22nd of Aug and i should be moving in real soon. within two weeks. I am lucky though cos there was no chain so the whole thing has gone real fast. I used a local solicitor, who are great!! but my mortgage was all done over the phone and by post. It was good, i worried about the service being impersonal but they always answered the phone or returned my call real quick. I think that the main point to a smooth move is the research that you put in. I did alot of research and went through a website that got mortgage companies that could work with me call me and it made it reall easy.

Received our contract for the purchase, mortgage deed and search results from the solicitors today. All looks OK. He's asking us to transfer our deposit money as well as payment for stamp duty into their bank account. Seems weird to be moving this kind of big money into their account without knowing the completion date yet.

Turns out that our seller is waiting for their mortgage offer. For the past couple of weeks their EA have been pestering us and turns out that they haven't sorted their mortgage out yet. I was under the impression that the rest of the chain was ready to go and just waiting for our mortgage offer, I've been panicking that we're going to lose the house  .

Once we have signed and returned the forms and transferred the deposit money all is ready from our part, just waiting for the rest of the chain to get to this stage. It's now been 8 weeks since we put in our offer, but could still be a long wait if there are any problems further up the chain  .

We recently started the process and received our mortgage offer today, getting very excited now! :j

We're first time buyers buying the house we currently rent (privately). The owner wanted a quick sale so we've been pushing things as much as we can and so dar things seem to be going OK, the only problems we had we right at the beginning trying to get hold of our mortgage arranger (who it turns out is on honeymoon!) and our solicitor (I wanted to speak to a particular solicitor as he is a relative).

Timetable so far is as follows:

    Offer agreed: 26th September
Solicitor contacted and initiated: 29th September
    Mortgage application: 30th September
    Life cover application: 2nd October
    First solicitor payment: 5th October
Mortgage offer received and accepted: 7th October

Just got to wait for all the searches now and the valuation. Fingers crossed everything else will go smoothly.
