Another Family given a 5 bedroom house for lying about being.........................

there are people who actually think like that against the British Empire or even the UK as it is now...Is it just me or has half the forum been infected with some kind of virus that induces hallucinations of entitlement recently?
Since we are handing out posh houses and free money to the middle classes and anyone with a grudge against our now defunct empire, I would like to claim my slice of the benefits cake.
Where do I sign up?
even when i travelled South America there were people who hated anything to do with Spain - consequence of the spanish empire i imagine.
as far as force them to commit fraud or claim benefits that their not entitled to i'm not sure that's the case - but many do have chips on their shoulders that they are still victims of the old empires or even the more affluent western world.0 -
Large brand new 3 bedroom houses in an upmarket area of town with groundsource heatpumps, security of tenure and cheap rent seems a good enough reason in my town. The only problem is that do not cherry pick the tenants and they end up getting trashed. Why on earth would anyone WANT to live in a council house though??!0 -
a woman of somalian origin lies to move up the queue for housing.
but how many of africa's resources have been unfairly exploited by western countries including the uk?
it's not hard to see why many of these people feel historically justified to take all they can.
Ninky we give £Billions in Aid to these countries. The average Somali is more interested in finding food and water than the Copper,Uranium and Bauxite mines that Africa has......Theres no way her actions can be justified.........0 -
Right, I'll get casting then - I can assure you I've never ever lied that my husband was in jail in order to get an expensive house. Have you? Has anyone you know?
It's not exactly in the bounds of normal behaviour, is it? Even normal sinning, if you wish to describe it as such? It's criminal.
reparations are not exactly without historical precedent.
i am not saying that the actions of this woman are necessarily right.
however we know little of her circumstances or background. perhaps she suffered horrifically. perhaps she was abused by the husband she lied about. perhaps this was the only way she could see to give her children a decent chance in life.
the point is we don't know.
many reasonable actions can be considered criminal (e.g. helping a suffering relative to die) and many unreasonable actions are considered legal (infidelity).
also, mitigating circumstances can change our point of view.
personally i'd like to see everybody living in a nice house. then perhaps there would be less concern about what others have. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
I cannot understand why this woman and her kids are not being kicked out and put into temp accommodation. Then the house could be given to someone who qualifies for it legally. Seems to send out a very wrong message that crime in fact does pay and is supported by the authorities.0

You and me both. Unfortunately, there's nothing sitting on a plate waiting for the likes of you and me who've worked hard for god knows how many years to fund it all. And if we lose our livelihood, then tough luck if the kids are grown, we'll just get tossed back on the scrapheap.
What is it the govt says about working til you're 66, 68, 70? There must be a parallel world I haven't come across.0 -

have.
At the expense of honest law abiding people. It is wrong and should not be rewarded.0 -

true. however, if the wealth of these resources was shared with them perhaps they could live as comfortably as we do in the west. western nations have also been exploiting somalias sovereign waters due to a lack of adequate defenses.
can lying / fraud ever be justified? i think it probably can schindler lied / committed fraud to protect jews during ww2 (whilst also lining his own pockets). Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
As I said on the other, similar thread......
Somalia is a f*cking hell-hole and its capital, Mogadishu is probably THE most dangerous city on earth.
But surely there is somewhere safe between there and here?"The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

I have been trying to get an answer to what happens to the 2grand a week tax payers are paying to these African families so they can live in luxury houses.
Simple tax question about the rent on this house talked about in the press. The government are paying 2grand a week to an African family so they can live in this expensive house. The media are trying to track down the owner of thwe house. Whoever the owner is, if the rent goes to the owner who is out of the country, does he still pay tax on the income?
Quote from that Dmail story
"The revelation that a foreign national, with unspecified tax status, is benefiting from taxpayer-funded rent payments will heighten concern about Britain’s broken benefit system.
The Mail on Sunday tracked down Dr Roman Keckeis, a lawyer acting for Brophy.
Dr Keckeis, who lives in a £5million mansion over the border in Austria and who drives a £120,000 Maserati sports car, is known as Dr Fixit and regarded as one of the shrewdest lawyers in Liechtenstein.
He declined to talk in detail about the house or reveal the identities of anyone connected with the Brophy group.
He said: ‘We manage assets and our clients expect confidentiality. I can confirm the house was bought as an asset. More than that I cannot say.’
Liechtenstein, in an Alpine valley between Switzerland and Austria, prides itself on its secrecy. It is estimated to hold £150billion of the world’s assets in its banks and 5,000 Britons are thought to have deposited more than £3billion in the principality simply to avoid paying tax."
