Facebook has got a lot to answer for if you ask me. People post things up there on a whim without thinking the consequences through and causes all sorts of disputes.

    It most certainly has!!

I know of several bust ups because of it so I am glad I do not use it.

    Yep, i agree.

Although it does have its 'uses' I know of 2 ppl i know who have found long lost relatives who havent been able to locate each other even after years of trying. I also know ppl who have used facebook to confirm their thoughts that their oh has been cheating..

However, it is only an extension of someones persona, and if that person is foolish enough to share thier life with the whole world without thinking through the result of those actions then they should be prepared to accept the barage that follows.
  • my ds who is 11 has a double barrelled surname and has decided he to get rid of his dads name which is the first part if the surname and keep my newly married name

when we filled out his school info form we put his full double name on it but also put his preffered name leaving out his dads bit.

his dad has been fighting me on it and says we cant change his name but to be perfectly honest if his dad ever saw him maybe he wouldnt be changing his name.

i agree a bit with the op, i wouldn't force my ds to change his name.
he decided on his own as he is fed up with hid dad breaking promises and going out drinking instead of spending time with him.

good luck op and keep us informed
