Can you get better from not being able to walk?

I used o go to college with someone who has spinal injuries. He said that when he had his accident, he was in plaster and unable to walk. He is now able to walk. However, he has said that he has days where he needs his stick(s) or his wheelchair to get arund - however, this is not all the time.
I really don't know esp as we all will have had MRI's or whatever test would be the appropriate one for our own disabilities.

There aren't tests for every disability. Someone on here said that for fibro (I can't spell the full name, sorry!) it's done by elimination. IBS is done by elimination too.

I can understand why someone like that might thing that they are still entitled to their DLA as they still need a wheelchair/stick somedays but someone that goes from being unable to walk to being able to run a marathon.

How can they possible justify claiming DLA & live with their conscience?

Lots of conditions improve. Better drug therapy, new surgical interventions.

This is true. Just under 10 years ago, I had a fit. For about 2 years ago after that, I suffered severe migraine and developed light sensitivity. The migraines carried on for another 2 years. I've had no problems with migraine since then - I just have light sensitivity and memory problems now.

(and no, I didn't claim DLA - didn't know it existed back then)

I have migraines, suffer from light sensitivity & my short term memory is practically non existant so they might not necessarily be linked to your fit.

You can have a fit if your temperature gets too high or in the case of my ex husband he was diagnosed with epilepsy last year at the age of 39 after having a few fits & has been fine ever since.

They only seemed to apear after the fit. My dad (who has epilepsy) has mentioned the same problems with memory too.

Apparently autistic people are more prone to fits but luckily neither me or my 2 son's have ever had one.
