So, it's acceptable to report someone when you know hardly anything? I am so glad I (hopefully, anyway) don't live anywhere near you.

Quite frankly you and I have so little in common that it is highly unlikely that I would ever know you well enough to be aware you were claiming DLA.

You don't get a red DLA tattoo on your forehead or anything you know. Except in the case of a motability car with a disabled tax disc no one would know you were claiming unless you told them.

I am disabled and know i am 100% genuine, but i thank god we are all anonymous on here or if someone to offence at your post they would be singing like a canary to the DWP!! Sounds silly??? just read some of the posts on here and think again!
  • The fraud cases that I think make everyone extra angry are the ones that claim to be a full time wheelchair user in such severe pain that they cannot do anything for themselves , then you see them running with great strength in a marathon !! Only so many get into the media but fraud cases such as marathon man , personal trainer, pole dancer & similar are unfortunately all to common. I suppose you have to have amazing gall to carry it off to that degree & really think that you wont get caught. Its hardly someone getting pocket money for walking their neighbours dog once in a blue moon . K

I can never fathom out how these people get away with it tbh.

I'm too honest for my own good & can't lie but even so how do they manage to fool the Doctor's?

DLA is the hardest benefit to get. I find it hard to believe that there are any fraudulant cases. its the one benefit that needs substantial proof from many thrid parties in order to be successful. Therefore I would not worry about a reassessment as it will be a nasty green eyed monster of a neighbour who would like your new car and can't have it!

I think some might actually be ill when they first claim; but don't tell the DWP when they get better.

I really don't know esp as we all will have had MRI's or whatever test would be the appropriate one for our own disabilities. Imagine having to look over your shoulder all the time & remembering your lies!! You'd be a jibbering mess wouldn't you. As much as we'd all love to leave our disabilities behind we cant but at least we are all honest :):):) K

Can you get better from not being able to walk?

Surely they're GP's would mention in any reports they have to write whether the injury is likely to be temporary.

I can walk but I wouldn't be able to run a marthon.

  • Nor me but I couldn't run before I became disabled lol . Yes there are genuine cases that happens but the likes of the marathon man are looked at from that angle by medics & not wonderful ATOS to see the likelyhood of that happening & they are always very clear that not a chance have they had a miracle cure!! Lots of conditions improve. Better drug therapy, new surgical interventions. Must be very tempting to hang onto the perhaps £125 a week and not say anything. If an award for life has been given, realistically what are the chances of that person being asked to attend a medical or supply up to date medical reports?

    BTW I couldn't run a marathon either.
