Unfortunately life's like that, there are always a***holes to spoil your day. I'm always consoled by the fact that 99.999% of people are ok.

Just on a side note as i'm sure it popped up in this loooonnnngggg thread somewhere........when i was visiting a local Tesco the other day, i notied their parent and child spaces had a sign stating only to use the spaces with children under 5.

I have no idea if it was there previously or whether tesco's "head of car park signs" read our posts on here (latter obviously made in jest) as i never use disabled/P&C spaces.

I wonder if anyone goes shopping with their 16 year old kid and parks in the P&C space all while justifying their lazyness with the fact that technically they have their "child" with them?

And before people misread/misunderstand what i say, no i'm not saying you have to abide by rules of private car parks and nor am i accusing everyone who uses P&C spaces of being lazy :D

Just seen this thread - Sainsburys also says up to age 12 in a P&C bay. Daft really, I have a 12 year old and do NOT need to use a P&C space with him, nor with my 9 year old. Sainsburys also seem to think they can 'fine' people, which they cannot.

Not that P&C spaces or disabled spaces or blue badges or fines mean anything at all on private land anyway (I see Peter_the_Piper and trisontana from the parking forum have already pointed that out). :D

But all you other nice peeps who posted on this vent thread would do well to have a peek on the parking forum here if you want to ask any questions and get factual answers:

Oh, and never bother to appeal and certainly don't ever pay any private parking ticket (supermarket, other retailers, etc) as they are a scam. And always sue the clamper and landowner if ever you get scammed with a private clamp - you have 6 years to get your money back and they are almost always unlawful.

And always appeal if ever you get a Council parking ticket - even if you seems to be bang to rights - and most certainly appeal if ever you get a clamped by a Council (normally overturnable as well).

BTW I never take up a disabled or P&C space, it's unsociable to use them if the need is not there. But I do stay for HOURS in private car parks and don't apologise for that - the sooner the private parking co. parasites lose their tenders when retailers realise they are causing a problem, not providing a service, the better!

    :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Although I agree the P&C parking spaces are a nice extra, I will say that they are really useful for those of us with babies and tots. I'll always use them when out with babs and they're available but have no problem parking the other side of the car park if not.

However, I do get wound up with the lazy !!!!!! that park there without kids in the back... in my mind it's akin to those that use disabled spaces, park across the front entrance or insist on holding up traffic by waiting for the closest available space with their blinkers on instead of driving to one of the other spaces just up ahead... it's selfish behaviour and shows an utter disregard for anyone else! Oh and don't get me started on the people that use two parking spaces for one car :D

    !

Rubbish - of course its not akin to those using disabled spaces - you have a child, you are not disabled!

Also, I get sick of people saying "well I managed without them in my day" etc etc. Things change and progress happens.

    .

I'm curious. Just what sort of "progress" has made it impossible for someone with a child to park in anything other than a double size space?

A blue badge isn't a "park anywhere you like permit" you know.

No, but the local press aren't known for their intellectual subtlety.

I'm curious too. Why does it bother people so much? What is the underlying objection to parent and child spaces?
