sigh..... i never it was a disability.
I need my door open all the way....Doom_and_Gloom wrote: »It's a lot easier to get a child into a car than someone helping a disabled person in and out a car. A person with a baby/child *may* need a bit of extra space to help them out but it's almost a certainty that a person with a disability will need that extra space.
When I'm on crutches I need to open the door 2/3rds of the way open at least...
I never once said that disabled persons dont need wider spaces did I??!!!Doom_and_Gloom wrote: »When I'm using my wheelchair I have to open the door fully to get in and out. Seriously you try and get in and out of a wheelchair without opening the door fully then you will understand!Doom_and_Gloom wrote: »Don't make the disabled out to be the selfish ones. They don't 'pinch' your P&C spaces, they use them because if the disabled bays are full they are the only other real option to them if they want to shop that day....
You obviously didnt read my post like many people here. I said when there are disabled bays available they use the P&C bays!! WHY!?!??!
utter rubbish!! never seen a carpark yet with less disabled bays than P&C....neverDoom_and_Gloom wrote: »As it is there are usually a lot more P&C spaces than disabled so your 'very few slots' comment is laughable really. You can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -
You haveNO right parking in a dis bay. Or is a child classed as a "disability" nowadays?
again , not sure how many times i have to say this - neither I, or my child have disabilities.
The parent and child spots are created as such.....otherwise they would be called the "call it what you want spot"You can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -

If they are closer to the store and or on a safer route then the disabled person is going to take that spot aren't they. It is not easy going around on crutches and even being in a wheelchair is not as easy as you would think.atomicsheep wrote: »Exaclty what i was thinking. Alot of the posters here seem to think i want the bay right outside the door. I never once said that. Its something they are clinging onto as there 'counter-moan' as such.
You do not need extra space. You just like it more than the same amount of space as those that aren't P&C or disabled bays. The P&C bays are there to bring in revinue and as a nice gesture by the store they don't have to provide them at all you know! I know some stores that don't have them at all. They still get loads of people with children shopping there even though they have to park in normal bays. There are also not loads of dented cars either. People manage to get their children out of normal spaces all the time. Don't moan about space of getting a child out when you are healthy.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy

i chose to have a child....so what?
If a parking spot is identified as a parent and child spot, then why cant i use itYou can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -
atomicsheep wrote: »Same would go for me- If no parent and child spots are free - i wouldnt hesitate in using a disbaled bay so i have room to the kids out without denting anyones car.
So are you never able to park in a car park that doesn't have P&C spaces or where there are no disabled bays free? Do you have to choose your car parks very carefully?0 -
Doom_and_Gloom wrote: »As someone else pointed out - P&C bays are sometimes closer to the store than the disabled bays. This is stupidity because those that are disabled generally have a harder time getting from point A to point B. This could be another reason why some disabled people use the P&C bays instead. All people with children need is a safe way to the store - not a shorter route like the disabled generally do!
agreed.
My supermarket all put disabled at teh front in my scenarios however. You can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -

No you can't.0 -
Disabled people need the designated spaces..... you do not! I am sure you could find a space somewhere where no one was parked next to you if you need space to get the kids out of your car if the P&C spaces were full. I think that disabled people should have priority in the P&C spaces (if they are near the store entrance) if no disabled spaces are available.
yes but my original post didnt say that did it.....
I said when there were disabled bays available in abundance. I dont have a problem with disabled poeple using P&C bays if thats all thtas leftYou can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -
