Doesn't anyone selling insurance have to sell to need? I thought all insurance sales were regulated by the FSA.Read the terms and conditions, and all other messages between you.
The insurance conditions are clearly stated. As well as notifying them to discontinue it after the free initial period, you could have cancelled the direct debit at the same time.Debt target: £19,000.00
Debt Cleared : £4,000.000 -
Regulated is more than 4 letters.0

I thought I explained in post 21 just above yours. Cpw don't understand such long words. They like to keep things simple; ignore the rules and do what they like.0

Who on earth are these people who defend the theives at CarphoneWarehouse.
They're not ordinary people, they seem to have a lot of knowledge about what is and isn't in a contract. They know CarphoneWarehouse policies, and they seem to be people who defend the lies, fraud and cheating of this company.
My guess is that they're CPW employees.
No normal person would defend theives who set up an insurance policy, after being asked not to, and a Direct Debit, then withdraw an extra £150 against the wishes of a customer, without their knowledge.
Perhaps this is why CPW needs to steal money.
How pedantic does a person need to be to defend fraud, theft and misleading practices, with the excuse that its in a clause.
I am happy to say that most companies I deal with are reasonably honest and straight, and I am just not used to dealing with the unashamed dishonesty of the Carphone Warehouse.
I guess they make a lot of thier money from stealing small amounts of money from lots of people, they realise that most people will just put up with it. I will be taking them to Small Claims Court, but I'm the exception.
I would like to know if there's a govt agency that we should compain to...0 -
I am having a meeting with Ofcom in January with regard to how to stop misleading practices in this industry.
I feel that some unscrupulous practices that some of the larger retailers are currently pushing as part of their business are causing as much damage as the cashback issue, so if anyone has evidence of these misleading practices please PM me and I will try and bring these up at the meeting.
I will recomend that the whole package that is offered is supplied in writing with clear and easy to understand without the small print that Is currently offered.
Instructions for cancellation of add ons should also be clearand not hidden.
I want to change these shoddy practices.0 -

Good morning alnsv1000s,
I am sure that you have good intentions with your meeting with Ofcom, but from my own experiences with them I wish you good luck.
Ofcom are something of a 'toothlessless tiger' they set rules and regulations, make a lot of noise but do very little to follow it up. They either lack the power or the willingness to use these powers. They do not want to get involved at 'our' level but will make headlines with Channel 4 and the X Factor.
Then we have the networks, premium rate industry, the sellers and resellers who knowing that Ofcom and the other enforcement agencies, ie Police, Trading Standards etc, will not act against them continue to con us on a daily basis without fear of any comeback.
Good luck my friend, I hope you are successful for all our sakes. Keep us informed.0 -

I don't think people are defending CPW here, they are simply pointing out that you have to make sure you read the small print of any contract. We all evolve - get on with it0 -

When you first posted that you were the victim of theft you asked then which government agency to complain to, and were correctly advised that if you were the victim of theft then you should report it to the police.
If you have had money taken out of your account via direct debit incorrectly, then you can use the dd guarantee to get your bank to refund you the money.
You have been given sound advice throughout - why do you now suggest people trying to help you are CPW employees in disguise?
What possible advantage is it to CPW to try and give you advice anonymously?0 -
I am certainly not a CPW employee - i just want to advise people to READ inportant information! This is how things go terribly wrong for people. If you have your money back now then just that's fine - in future just read the small print, and ask questions when you buy.Wondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...0
