Apparently they sent a warning in a text. Well I have a life, I'm not 16, and I don't spend my life reading texts. I do NOT expect to be lied/mislead on the phone.

This is a scam, pure and simple.

!!!!!!?!?! You have a mobile but you don't read your texts?!?!:confused::confused:

You tell us "they did NOT tell me this..., they did NOT tell me that" but then when there is a posability that they did tell you by text you come out with that rubbish, why should we believe a word that you say...

Then there is "Perhaps this was hidden somewhere on a letter I received, I can't tell.":confused: Its not rocket science, they either did or did not tell you on a letter...

I have had loads of contracts with Three and every time i've cancelled my contracts they have offered me the PAC code which I said ok to and as soon as they told me that if I didn't use it within 30 days then my contract would continue, I told them where to shove their PAC code... sounds like you should have done the same....

    Yes, its amazing, but true.

    I actually have a life.

I actually have better things to do with my time than read text messages.

And I actually expect a company to inform me properly of contract changes.

As I said, the reason why CPW did not tell me that I would be charged if I didn't use the PAC code, and the reason why CPW did not tell me that my cancellation had in fact been cancelled, is that I would have immediately said 'Do not send me a PAC code'.

As CPW knows, they can't trick people into keeping an account open, which they have asked to be closed, if they correctly inform them.

I'm not sure what the legal term for this kind of scam is, but it is illegal to force people to enter into contracts without fully informing them.

I'm sure CPW makes lots of money from this scam, and I'm sure lots of people like me have been taken to the cleaners by this.

I'm just trying to warn others not to get scammed, and when the CPW says 'would you like a PAC code?' remember they won't tell you the whole truth.. and your bank account may be raided, as mine was.

    Happy calling!

It's not a scam, they just presume adults (rightly or wrongly) have enough initiative to actually conduct a simple procedure without being spoonfed every step of the way. Surely after one direct debit, you would query it?

If you didn't read the text, (or letter, if there was one) how do you even know that they sent you a PAC?

I wonder if these are CPW employees.

I'm only asking this, as this scam is so awful, so obviously immoral and misleading, and the lack of open information to obviously planned, that I assume only a CPW employee could think it acceptable.

Or perhaps there are people who actually think its ok to take money from someone's account without their knowing.

    Asside from this wierdness..

Has anyone been successful making complaints about this kind of behaviour?
  • You entered into a contract. It is your obligation to understand the terms and conditions of that contract not CPWHs to explain it to you. You didn't bother to read it or the texts CPWH sent you. This is not a scam from CPWH but simply your mistake in not paying attention to the T&Cs and your texts. If you took this to court you would most certainly lose.

  • i find it amazing when you keep calling this scam,

how long does it take to read a text message, 20-30 seconds or read a letter thoroughly maybe a minute or two, check your out goings in your bank account 5 - 10 minutes,

you must have an exceptionally busy life not to be able to manage your time to do these every day tasks,

but yet you seem to have given alot of time trying to convince/warn people that you have been conned and mislead,

if this time had been spent reading text messages or correspondence then we all could have avoided participating in this thread, personally i`ll leave you to your busy life and sign out of this thread as you quite obviously will not take any of the blame for this error

I'm setting up a new company called CarphoneScamPhones

In it, I agree to a contract on the phone with the customer, but then amend the contract by text a few days later.

As many people will not realise that the contract has been amended, I will then be able to charge the customer's bank account whatever I like. If anyone asks, I'll say they were warned.

This is a surefire way to rake in the cash, think of all the suckers (honest people) who believe they're given correct information on the phone, and all the cash I can steal from them.

I'm looking for investors, if there are any crooks out there (and there certainly seem to be some around with questionable morals) who don't mind stealing for a living, do let me know.

If only 20% of the people I sell to don't read the text, we could be living it up on other people's hard earned money. And we'd be Kosher (or Hillal if you're that way inclined).

We could even get people to defend us on websites like this.

Where are there are honest people, there's always a way to steal money. We can thank the CarphoneWarehouse for teaching us that.
  • What the hell is a PAC code????

And why haven't I got one?
The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.
