Hi there Ellie,
Just read through your diary and really felt for you, you've had it rough but it sounds like you're on the up a little bit. Keep going!~Nym~

Thanks Nym, I am feeling quite positive at the moment:)
Third payment has gone to CCCS today - I can't believe how quickly the time is passing. Checking on my statement I can see the amounts starting to come down!!!! It's not by a lot but at least it's in the right direction
Phonecalls to OH have frittered away which is good
I have been moving my redundancy money into a savings account so that it is out of temptation and I have been adding to this each week.
Work for OH is drying up but on the plus side he is starting to get some plastering work, so fingers crossed
Nothing much else happening at the moment

Hi Ellie
Just wanted to pop back and thank you and Jackie for giving me the courage to press the button on my DMP.:) Also to say congratulations on your new job and for sticking with things through thick and thin you are an inspiration!
My DMP is all setup and my first payment has gone off. 2 creditors have agreed in principal to payments but not sure if interest etc will stop however, feel pleased some progress is being made. Like you both I have had ups and downs and emotional jitters but like you have said eventually it is so worth it and that is what I have hung onto and you are right it's true:T.
I still feel at the moment like when you are in a plane coming through the clouds - cant quite see the sun yet but know its up there somewhere!! However I know I will get there and the feeling of having money to budget with is unbelievable - its weird but I am actually almost scared to spend it now which I know is a good thing and I am really careful to ask myself do I want it or do I need it. Lessons are learnt the hard way but sometimes that is the only way. None of us want to be in this situation but facing up to it and dealing with it really is the only way forward and it does give you this strange feeling of calm after all the sleepless nights worrying about what to do initially.
So in a very long winded and roundabout kinda way - THANK YOU! EB xxxTotal Debt £30,561.62 :eek::eek: (not forgetting the 62p!) :rotfl:Debt Free in ... 10yrs...Oh well.. one day at a time..

I'm so glad that you are feeling better Easter Bunny, it is a strange feeling to have money to budget with and you certainly do question whether you need things or not.
We are plodding along, having good days and bad but at least the awful feeling of doom has now passed:)
Take care and keep in touch to let us know how you are getting along

Nothing much happening, just taking each day as it comes. It's a good feeling not to have any credit cards anymore. My only worry is when I have to work away and pay for hotels etc. at the moment I am stashing money away so that I can pay for my expenses but I've got my redundancy money so it's no hardship at the moment.
I'm seven weeks into my new job and settling in nicely, long may it continue:o
Mercers continue to harass us but now with letters and not phonecalls. CCCS are going to send them our SOE and hope that they freeze the interest as that is being applied at the rate of knots but everyone else appears to have accepted so that's a plus. Individual balances are coming down but Barclaycard (Mercers) are applying interest, over limit and late payment fees so that balance is increasing by the hundreds:eek:

Hi Ellie so glad you are okay and your job is going well. You have come so far and both deserve massive pat on back! My fears are the same as yours - my main debt is with Lloyds TSB and I know they are going to be difficult to stop interest and charges but only time will tell. Keep up the good work. Hi Jackie,
Good to hear from you, I was wondering how you were doing.
My OH is being harassed continually by Mercers, they did stop for a while when I sent them the letter asking them to contact us in writing but now they are back to 5 or 6 calls a day threatening to come to the house or take us to court. They are getting the most money out of our DMP!!
Hope everything keeps ticking along for you
Speak soon

Mercers are driving us crazy!! I have written to them and also spoken to CCCS who have sent them our SOA again but they are still persisting with phonecalls threatening us with allsorts.
The stress is creeping back in a little bit as we don't know what to do next for the best with Mercers and we are ignoring the phonecalls and hoping that eventually they will realise that we are paying them as much as we can afford
Everything else is just plodding along so long may it continue:o

Hi Ellie
Sorry to hear about Mercers my friend is getting exactly the same treatment from them and she also wrote them a letter to take number off. Lets hope they get bored you cant pay anymore and dont think they have a leg to stand on as you are paying what you can afford at leas they are getting something.
I think its a bit of a lottery with them I havnt had any hassle from them and other people have, hope it dosent stress you out too much.
Im not too bad dreading xmas a bit the expectations of what my kidsd want is getting me down have explained that xmas will be tight this year and they seem ok cant help feeling a bit of a let down but they are old enough to understand.
Keep strong Jackiexxxx0
