  • Hi Ellie

Sounds like there are the jobs out there for you. The contracting sounds good.

Like you are house needs updating and havnt had the money to decorate hopefully be able to do this now.

    Happy decorating Jackiexxx
  • Well, we really splashed out on the paint - £63 in total but this included paint brushes and some lining paper, so I'm well chuffed that finally we can make the house a bit more presentable!

I'm trying very hard to resist the money sitting in our bank account at the moment and I'm tempted to move most of it into our savings account so that it's out of the way. If I don't get a job right away I can then I can draw it out on a monthly basis and treat it as my salary. It's been there for 2 weeks now but apart from our trip to B&Q it's untouched!!

Phones have quietened down again and nothing much in the post so just plodding along:) OH has commented that I appear much better in myself and that I'm not as "weepy" all the time.

  • Hi Ellie

it must be very tempting to go and spend it good for you for resisting the temptation of having a spulrg.

Glad to hear you are better in yourself Im a bit up and down at moment only because payday seems so far away and then im going to save for xmas.

    Have a good day Jackie
  • Hmmm, I thought it had gone a bit quiet.... so, Santander have sent me a statement this morning for my CC bill and not only have they NOT frozen interest but they have also upped it to 34.9, this has taken me over my limit so they have applied over limit fees as well:mad: How on earth are you supposed to pay what you owe and get rid of these CC's? To think that I felt loyalty to them at the beginning as I had been with them for over 20 years!!!! I've just filed the letter with all the rest (They can't have what I haven't got!!!!).

On a more positive note I should find out today whether I have got a job, so I'm just waiting for a phone call.

Got a cheque for £50 cashback on my car insurance so that's going into my emergency fund:)

OH has work all this week so that's a plus and he has decided to stop drinking all together so perhaps he's had his LBM? He didn't drink massively before but a few cans here and there mount up so this is a giant step forward, just got to get him to give up the ciggies now.. but one step at a time;)

Not much else happening at the moment but I must be feeling better about our whole situation because the letter from Santander would normally have me running for the hills and selling off the family silver (oh, I forgot, I've already done that months ago!!!:rotfl:)

  • Hi Ellie

What are Santander playing at the B.....stds its like they take grest pleasure in making your life a misery. What can you do apart from file the letter away, just take a bit longer to clear the balance. I feel the same about Aqua.

Off work today realy heavy cold just dont feel up to it. Havnt had any more letters or phone calls for a while I expect I am due one in the post.

    Hope you get the job

    Have a good day JackieXXXX
  • I know I keep saying this but this forum is amazing!!!!! I posted on the without a paddle thread about the interest rate rise from Santander and the lovely people over there have told me that they can't just up the interest, which is a relief. Mikon has put on a great post which is well worth a read:T

Still waiting for an answer on the jobs front after my interview but have also had a couple more agencies ring me, so still positive:)

Nothing much else happening at the moment.

Jackie, hope that your cold gets better soon. Sending hugs:grouphug:

  • Perhaps things are looking up! I've got a job!! I start on Monday so that takes some pressure off:)

I rang the CCCS to ask if I could send a lump sum payment towards my debt but they have advised me to put the money in a savings account as the preditors may ask for increased payments each month if they think that we have more money than we have disclosed. What is wrong with these people, surely it's better to pay off one off amounts when you have them and for them to accept that it is exactly that "a one off"! Anyway I am taking the CCCS advice and putting the money to one side and maybe in the future be able to offer it as a F&F payment.

Everything else is plodding along, I seem to get conflicting letters from the preditors, one letter saying that statements will stop and to keep paying the agreed amount and then from the same company another saying they are passing me to a DCA as they haven't had any payments? Again, the CCCS have advised me to ignore the letters and just file away (this file is growing!!)

Life is returning pretty much to normal but without any CC's which has not been a hardship so far and we find that we are managing just fine without CC's - long may it continue:)

  • Hi Ellie

Good news about job well done!!! I too am getting conflicting letters had a lletter from Next saying they were transfering to Debt Collection agency after agreeing to reduced payments confused so rang "oh sorry the payment from CCCS was late so have taken you off payment plan" what a load of rubbish dont want to make things easy.

File it away and get on with life without credit cards. Things not been too good for me this week but hopefully after payday and a bit more budgeting I should be able to manage better in October.

Do you know when the CCCS do a review?

Good luck for tomorrow in your new job have a good day Jackie
