We've survived New Year and are looking forwards. We had a review with CCCS and our DMP has gone up by £13 per month but the good news is that our debt free date has come down by 6 months - this feels great!! It also makes me even more determined to be debt free!!

Happy New Year to everyone out there and I hope that 2011 brings health, wealth and happiness to you all!!!

    Hi Jackie

Good to hear from you, it was good to get through Christmas without credit wasn't it?

Sorry to hear that your hubby is still the same, but you've come this far so just keep going.

Doesn't time go by quickly, I'm 6 months into my DMP now. I've had a review and my payments went up by £13 per month but this brought the time down by 6 months!

My main worry at the moment is funding my trips away with work that I have to do as part of my job. I used to pay for everything on credit card but now it's coming out of my own money £1500 this month (Jan)! I am using the redundancy money that I got from my old job to fund this but I can feel the panic every time I'm asked to go away somewhere!!

Take care and keep in touch

Seven months into our DMP, life is back to normal more or less. Still have moments of doom and gloom but these are less than when we were trying to meet all our CC payments.

4 creditors have defaulted us so far out of 11 - no phonecalls these days so that's a worry off our minds.

OH's business continues to limp along, we are going to see what happens this year and if it doesn't make any money re-think our options. There are no jobs around for a 50 year old as far as I can see but you never know

Managing (just) to fund my travel around the UK for work but not sure how long I can keep that up

Still determined to beat this and most of the time I am positive:)

    Hi Ellie
thjought I would drop you a line again.

Hope you are ok, still finding it difficult on DMP without credit but of course it is a better way to live, just dont seem to have enough money to go around, I suppose I should really look for another job, but there is nothing around here.

Good to see balances coming down eight months in now, yes I am getting those panicky feelings when it comes to end of the month before I would have used my credit card to get through the month.

Hope work is ok and you are not dipping too much into redundancy.

    speak soon Jackie

    Hi Jackie,

Yes, we are also still plodding along but now the better weather is here OH's work is starting to pick up so we are managing to survive... just!

I've been working in your neck of the woods recently, I've been staying in Shepperton and travelling to Woking

Hope things are o.k. with you... the months have flown by haven't they, it doesn't seem eight months since we were nervous wrecks and not knowing which way to turn! We may have no money but we have peace of mind!!

    Speak soon

We've now made 8 payments to CCCS and we can see a very small dent in the overall total that we owe. :)

Things are tough but now the Spring is here OH's work is starting to come in again.

I'm still so glad that we went down the DMP route even though we have to do without and re-think how we are going to pay for things at times.

For anyone still trying to decide whether DMP is the way to go, all I can say is that it has given us a new lease of life. It's not an easy way out and you do have to make adjustments and tighten your belt but the alternative was sooo much worse!!!

    Hi Ellie

Hope u found Woking Ok I know Shepperton quite well.

Yes life is still tough having to adjust my way of buying and thinking, and Next have just passed my debt on to Brecon Debt recovery with a lovely note saying I could be getting a door step collector.

Rand CCCS and said not to worry too much as I am paying what I can.

It seems as 6 months have passed my creditors are now starting to get a bit !!!!!! about things. Next is my smallest debt £555.00.

Not feeling too bad, hope you are ok and hubby is getting a bit more work.

    speak soon Jackie:j

    Hi Ellie

    Hope all is well

Easter holidays are here, in the past would have taken the kids where they wanted to go and put it all on my credit card not any more.

They are having to learn that we have to have days at home now they seem ok about it though, I have explained to them that you have to have boring days as well its tough though.

    How are things with you?

    Jackie
