Have only frozen milk once (skimmed variety)...as I picked up 2 pints for 20p so I thought it was a good time to try it. When we needed some milk all I did was put it in the fridge as r.mac said above. Don't know if its different for goats milk though.
OH was so impressed with me that he picked up an extra bottle of milk at the weekend to put in the freezer.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Haven't frozen goats milk but do cows regularly. We have semi-skimmed and I find it does not separate if defrosted soon after frozen - perhaps within 2-3 weeks.
As said before a shake sometimes works, but I have used milk frozen more than 2 months previously and warmed it for milky drinks, custard sauces etc
Hope this helps0 -
I always freeze my milk - semi skimmed - and never have a problem- I just use it in exactly the same way as unfrozen milk. If you need it defrosted quicker, place it in cold water, and change when it gets very cold. Otherwise leave overnight to defrost gently. Do shake once and don't use a microwave. I've also frozen cheeses in the past - and as long as they're defrosted gently - very successful.0

I have frozen and defrosted milk before with no trouble.
Only thing I would say is NEVER freeze soya milk!!! It separates and no amount of shaking will make it better, super gross!
Sorry edited to add that I have had no problems with goats milk. except that is smells goaty, that is why I had to switch to soya, can't do cows.
Has anyone ever tried sheeps milk?oooh look only about 220 posts and I got round to doing my Avatar already!!0 -
I had sheeps milk unknowingly in Switzerland last year. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between that and cows milk but that could just be that I had it at the same time as lots of different cheese/cooked meats/bread and the most beautiful homemade jam at breakfast  I think I'm going to have to start saving up to go back againCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

I have frozen my milk for a long time now. I started when the kids were young and we moved out of town. I fill up my sink with hot water and pop it in. Just check now and again and fill with more hot water when it the water gets too cold. Give a good shake when most of the ice is melted and put back in the fridge. I've been doing this for around 23 years now and have never had any problems. Even now that I"m not living so isolated I still buy my milk weekly and freeze.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0

Thank you everyone you have been a great help. I left it out on the side in the shade yesterday it part defrosted so I put it in the fridge. I have a feeling it will still be part defrosted as our fridge freezes things as well. Next time I'll try the sink and water idea. Thank you again

I must be wierd - Ive never even thought of freezing milk! I just buy UHT now (to cut a long story short - I drink a billion cups of tea a day, the kitchen is MILES away from my room in our student house, and the only fridge in my room is on of those little poxy things, that only fits in two single one pint cartons, and thats if I force the door closed - but It gets drunk in about an hour anyway - hence it is pointless, and I just bulk buy UHT cartons instead. Funnily enough, my taste buds have grown to like its wierd taste, and fresh milk tastes so odd now!

I always defrost mine in cold water - it defrosts in half the time.
I don't know if it's a good idea to defrost it in any way which makes it warm though (ie putting it in the microwave/in hot water) as surely that makes the bacteria grow? Plus you can't put it in the fridge while it's warm (for the same reason). It's not WHAT you know, it's WHO you know0
