It's only Citalopram, very common for depression.
Not all antidepressants work for every patient. Some people would argue that none of them work, or at least not in the way psychiatrists claim. You're right that I'm fortunate though, but I displayed a willingness and eagerness to get better which you need for CBT to work. Maybe that's why they thought I was worth it.
Or possibly it was because you had been suffering for 30 years.0 -
Clearly I'm wasting my time, whatever I suggest is just shot down with excuses. Why aren't people willing to even try? The answer is they want it easy, for someone else to do the hard work. Fine then, wallow in self pity until you get a wonder drug and I'll enjoy all the pleasures you're missing out on.
I will end with this - if you're not prepared to help yourself then nobody else should have to help you because you don't deserve it.Only 3% of those registered blind in the UK have zero vision.0 -
Some people find that nothing works for them. And yes, I do know someone which that is true for.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I don't suffer from depression. I have seen someone close to me suffer from it and during the most acute stage they were in no position to do much for themselves. Perhaps your own depression is not quite the same as other people's.
And you already stated that you had been helped by CBT and antidepressants. It's not a case of "trying hard" - antidepressants simply don't work for all people (read the results of clinical trials). CBT, as I already pointed, out is a very finite resource and is not available for everyone. It's not a case of thinking positively and suddenly the NHS will provide it for you...0 -
MEDICAL ADVICE
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -

As soon who has not that long recovered from an episode, (which last around 5 weeks) I agree.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I find your attitude really offensive. My relative suffers from depression, has taken advantage of all the treatment she has been offered, works, exercises when she can but still suffers from severe depression which appears to be resistant to medication. What exactly am I making excuses about? It's just the facts of her situation. Just as some people don't respond well to cancer treatment, many people don't respond well to antidepressants.
There are different levels of depression. Some people can barely move or eat or speak when it happens to them or they hear voices or hallucinate. Perhaps if your own depression is not like this - and if that's the only medication you are on, it presumably is not - it's difficult to understand. But I have seen it for myself.0
