yes bottomline, the ones who say they cant be bothered to get out of bed some mornings because of depression, thats just a big joke, if they got up and even went to work or looked for work, had a goal or some sense of achieving something then they would feel a whole lot better, they are always too depressed to do anything yet never too depressed to search out and claim every benefit there is...apologies in advance to anybody offended but its gone too far with some claimants

You know what, I agree with you. I've seen people who have the time and motivation to spend hours on this web site arguing about why they should be entitled to benefits, even scolding others for daring to suggest they're making excuses. But when someone suggests perhaps they could put their efforts into something more productive for their own lives it's back in bed hiding under the duvet.

I used a combination of drugs and CBT to haul myself out of depression and it was flippin' difficult, and I don't deny I still have off-days. But it is possible yet some seem happy to just park themselves up in front of a PC all day and whinge about how hard it is.

There's one person in particular on here who has massive double standards with regards to herself and others - woe betide if you try to claim something without consulting her first, but do not dare to tell her she may not be entitled.

i agree bottomline, they wont look for work, say they cant go out as they are depressed, to ill to even cook or get dressed as they are feeling depressed, i used to feel like that after a good nights drink but still had to make the effort to go out to work to provide for my family..i know plenty of people who work from home so there is jobs they could do, even working from a computer as so much time is spent on here justifying why they should be able to get benefits. I know someone who suffers depression and claims everything, he is in the pub, travels around the country to football matches, drives a nice car but says he gets depressed and hears voices so he gets all kinds of benefits yet another friend i know caught a virus, is now n a wheelchair, blind in one eye and paralysed from the neck down yet he doesnt receive as much thats why i think the depressants should be caught out when the new medicals are introduced..its disgraceful

Why? Depression is as real as being blind.

I know - I suffer both depression and blindness. My depression was so bad I attempted suicide on more than one occasion, but it is entirely possible to take control of it and your life - I have done just that. Too many depressives are comfortable to remain as such and won't even try to get better, I've seen them first hand.
