Won't surprise me if all the ghost stories get removed for being off topic but I do have such a good one, I couldn't resist!
'Things' do happen in my house when we do some sort of major re-decorating in our house though, like the people that lived here before are checking out the place.
But this is my story:
My daughter was only a few months old and I had a medium come over and 4 other people besides me were going to get a 'reading one evening. We chose my house because I had 2 rooms downstairs with a door that closed so the medium could have privacy in one of the rooms with the person he was giving a reading too.
So in the other room we always had 4 people chatting away, passing the time. I had my baby monitor in there and I kept looking at it coz it would go over with green and red lights if she started to cry and I was afraid I might not hear her through the monitor with all the chit chat. It also gave the temperature of her room/nursery (in farenheit). That evening it said 74 degrees as a constant.
So, after my reading, I was sitting listening to other people and decided to glance up at the monitor. When I did, the temperature said 32 degrees (freezing point!) I just stared open mouthed at it and about 5 seconds later the temperature jumped straight back to 74 degrees.
Needless to say I turned a whiter shade of pale and wanted to go get her out of bed but everyone else talked me out of it. Then the medium came in and I told him what had just happened and he said he truly believed it was one of my family members having a little look at my little one before jetting back off again to their 'place'.
That was the only time in my life I could honestly say something had happened and there was no real explanation. Should add the baby monitor never had before and never did since jump around with weird temperature readings.0 -
Hmmm... - now pondering whether it would be possible to leave a suitable picturebook or two out near Ben and she might take it into her head to teach him the basics of how to read (can't recall how old he is?...) and give him a headstart at school? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:(I'm only half-joking.....)..:D
I think she may well have noticed how hard you work and is trying to help out actually...
Quite disturbingly I think she actually is. He seems to know a fair bit about animals that ok we have been to a fair few zoo's in his lifetime but he was watching an advert the other day with a do do on it and I asked him if he knew what it was and he quite matter of factly said 'yes mummy that's a dodo and they are extinct'. how a 6 year old would know that I don't know.
He has said as well that when hes playing with holly - (should explain first - she smiles when you pull the light blanket lightly over/down her face - so that seems to be her favourite game at the minute) but she was in her bouncer and he was playing with her and I told him to be careful with her - as I was pottering about tidying toys away at the other end of the room - and he said 'yeah, you dont hold blankets on the babies face or she'll die wont she mummy?':eek::eek::eek::eek: so not sure if his father has tried explaining about being careful to him and that was Ben's blunt version relayed to me OR if Val has been telling him to be careful with her.Time to find me again0 -

Sammy
There could be other explanations for that - maybe a friend told him or he saw it on tv?
But - if she is teaching him a few things then I guess thats helpful isnt it??? Or are you wondering whether she might be teaching him things in an "old-fashioned" way? I would imagine she must realise that things will be being taught in different ways these days to what they were in her era...
With the way you said about the knocking in your flat the evening of the intruder in your garden - I would imagine that was her "keeping an eye out" for all of you and trying to figure out a way to warn you that there was "trouble" en route.
It does sound to me like she's become a sort of adoptive Auntie to all of you and is looking out for all your welfare. You DO work very hard Sammy - the amount of things you say you have been doing and looking out for all your relatives. Perhaps its time you were "looked after" a bit yourself and helped out??
(EDIT: Maybe you could write about this on more detail on your blog and get peoples opinions on whats happening?)0 -
Talking ghostly goings on when my DD was a toddler I could here her giggling in her room over the baby monitor and when I went up to settle her down she was pointing to the corner of the ceiling saying "funny man".
About 3 months later I was going through my photo albums and she sat on my lap and pointed to a picture and said "funny man" it was my dad who died three years before she was born.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I'm loving all these ghost stories!
A few days after my dad died, DS2 who was about 10 at the time, was playing in his room when he came running down the stairs. He asked me if I'd just seen grandad wandering around. I told him I hadn't and asked him why, had he seen grandad? Apparently, he saw dad standing behind him and when DS spoke to him, dad reached his arm out as if to touch DS's shoulder, opened his mouth as if to say something, then went *!!!!!!* (son's word) and disappeared.
Also, when son was a toddler, he used to tell me all about the times when he was a man called Max and he had a motorbike. One day as we were doing the school run with the other kids, a lady walked past us and DS said hello to her. I told him off for talking to a stranger and he said she wasn't. When I asked him how he knew the lady, he told me he used to know her when he was a man. A case of reincarnation perhaps?
Mardatha, your story reminded me of a dream I once had. I don't have nightmares very often, but this one was nasty! There was a wardrobe, which, like the one in Narnia (and I hadn't been watching or reading the story!) was a portal to another place. Trouble was, it was a really bad place and I'll never forget the feeling of pure evil that emanated from it. The words "pure evil" really don't come anywhere near close to what it felt like. It's a feeling that I hope to never feel again. :eek:0
