  • Purple this may sound daft but have you thought of seeing a careers advisor. I have just done this a lovely lady indeed who sat and chatted with me about what I want to do and what I already have done. The service I used is called 'next step' but im pretty sure most FE colleges have them.
Also they have access to grants that other places dont. They have paid in the past for one of my courses. Pathways into education are not set in stone theres many different ways. I wish you much luck, working with children is very rewarding.

It seems that I'm the one who always ends up taking our families pets to the vets when it is, sadly, necessary to have them put to sleep. I had to take my parents old dog when the poor love could no longer stand without falling (problem with circulation the vet said)...mum and dad got so choked at the very thought of it...and yet wierdly i am the biggest animal lover in the family! I shall be devastated when it's time for my own pooch to leave me...she is 11, 12 next January. She is a yorkie though and they can live quite long lives i believe. I certainly hope so in our case.

Gosh i feel teary just thinking about it LOL!

Anyway, ghosts/sprits. I am a Christian and i have experienced some bizarre and unexplainable stuff in my time. What i have found though is that 'ghostly goings on' tend to occur more often/frequently when we entertain them....i don't mean invite them to dinner.....i mean when we do/use things like ouiga boards or hold seances etc. Personally I don't get involved with stuff like that anymore but i did in my teens and i have honeslty seen books jump of shelves and seen door handles turn when no one was in the house apart from me/me and my dumb !!! friends trying to get in touch with 'someone from the spirit world'. On the Ouija board 'it' spelt out my grandma's name...i was terrified! I was a teen at the time and we kind of did it to scare ourselves..which succeeded!

There's been loads more times when things have happened that have been good though...i swear that i have had 'someone' put their arm around my shoulders when i was alone in the house and stuff like that. That didn;t creep me out though because i felt it was either a loved one or maybe even the Lord? I dunno.

Gosh i'm off on a strange tangent tonight!

Love is eternal Kath, it never dies :)
  • Thanks for that - but does this apply to primary teaching?

    Hi,

Yes it does. I am a primary school teacher. I have trained four teachers now and they are all primary based. Two teach in the infants and two in the juniors. Infact the last student I mentored is now our reception teacher - she got the post this September. She did the course in a year with two kids at primary school in the infants. Let me know if there's anything you need or want to know.

Jediteacher - can you send me some info on how i can train to teach... I was looking at becoming a TA to fit in around my kids but would love even more to become a teacher... I thought I needed a degree and years of training... If it can be done another way, and fit in around my kids i would love to do it :)

Please PM me with any info to help - thanks so much :)
  • Sammy, I don't think that Val will ever hurt Ben...she may be his own "special" companion. She may have been lonely before she died and she probably loves children.

    I agree.

If he genuinely seemed scared of her then I would see about having something done and removing her in some way but he seems totally at ease with the fact that she's here. She never makes any fuss bar that one night, and just plays with Ben.
    Time to find me again

Gailey, try some ginger tea or a few ginger snap biscuits...;)

My first husband had an imaginary friend here in Kent, when he was about 5. He used to be very happy with the "friend" and used to want his mum to set a place at the table.

Hugs to all who need them. ((( )))

...quite...as you hear them giggling them away together (well - you hear ONE of them anyways....as the other one is inaudible to you) then leave them to it if they're both happy.

Only shame is that you couldnt go out and leave Val babysitting (sounds like she'd happily take over for a few hours to give you a break) - as there'd be no visible evidence of someone being "on duty" and she might not be able to work out a way to "contact you" if you were needed (she couldnt ring you up on your mobile phone for instance)

Hmmm... - now pondering whether it would be possible to leave a suitable picturebook or two out near Ben and she might take it into her head to teach him the basics of how to read (can't recall how old he is?...) and give him a headstart at school? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:(I'm only half-joking.....)..:D

I think she may well have noticed how hard you work and is trying to help out actually...
