My ds is still trying to find his 'stick insects' (old tank full of twigs, bark and mulch) hehe

I always wanted stick insects as a child but was never allowed them as DM was terrified they would escape and we wouldn't know, as you can't tell them from the sticks in the tank!! We were allowed cats, dogs, mice, almost anything apart from stick insects so , of course, I wanted stick insects :D

Had to put a warmer quilt on my bed last night as it has suddenly got a lot colder.

  • Morning all.

have had a funny night with babe - she usually guzzles 3 ozs no problem in the night but last night she took just 2ozs in total. shes woken up this morning and had another 2 in bed with me at about 6am, and shes had about 2.5ozs since. just doesnt seem a lot for her but midwife said to feed her on demand. she seems happy enough though. she has her 6 week check later so might ask then if she seems off. she is having a few mouthfuls now though.

Last night was the first night I've had to put the heating on too - was bloody freezing here with all the rain and we had flooding just down the road in briton ferry. thankfully although im in the bottom of a valley im still on a slight slope towards a river so i dont flood. ;)

seems murky here but not raining.........yet

I am another one who put out washing, sat down to check emails and didn't realise the weather until it was too late so washing is now wetter than it went out. Its all boyfriends work stuff too so will need to try and dry that asap.

need to go and pay rent today - oh joy! and put £25 in bank to help reduce a £633 overdraft - urgh. sure there is charges to go on that yet. not good. I'm getting £290 from boyfriend so £230 rent, £25 bank and £22 into another bank means I have all of £13 left over for a small top up shop until tuesday and £7 of that will be hollys milk - time to check cupboards and freezer me thinks as still enough things in them but not quite meals if you know what i mean .

note - hes just had another ounce and a smidge but reading back shes had 6.25 ounces in just under 2 hours - does that seem right for a 6 week old baby? considering she was 11lb 7ozs when i weighed her last week?

How did you go with midwife? my boys were premature and we had to follow a strict 4 hr schedule from special care - i relaxed abit with the second one as special care didnt scare as much as we been there before. 6.25oz seems a normal amount but I would worry if they didnt take feed every four hours even during the night, but it didnt mean anything wrong with the boys - think I was paranoid - special care can do that!

Ben to liverpool musuem as its OH birthday. he got quite a bit of cash for his bday so treated us all to lunch out. Looks like rain, glad we just home now. OH has taken DS2 for a nap, think hes fell asleep too!

Annie56 You sound a brilliant, strong woman. You made me laugh with your frying pan incident. Good luck to you. I think you are going to do just fine.
That's Me - I loved what you said and it makes me feel better now that I may be temporarily unemployed but I can spend more valuable time with my 12 yr old daughter which is worth more. We are not well off by any means but if we are careful my husband can support us.
Gaily - Good luck to your husband that's brill. My husband was always a bit fussy about toys around the house and didn't like them in the living room and they ended up going in daughter's bedroom at the end of the day.
Thank you everyone for the support will post my application for voluntary work. Can't apply for any benefit as husband works full-time and from what I'm reading on here I haven't been paying enough NI to receive JobSeekers being a part-time worker since my daughter was born.

Just do a double check on that as if Child Benefit is in your name then you get credits for being the child carer or however they describe it. hth

The NI 'credits' for child benefit are for retirement pension, not for jobseekers unfortunately.

    dark and rainey outside.
Kids bored and make more mess.
cant even summon up energy to do much cooking which I enjoy doing
    feel very tired
keep sneezing -think maybe Im ill or school hols just pushed me over edge.

Weird how weather can effect mood.

Feel better when I do something , need to go round corner shop but anticipate another downpour.

Hubbys coming home bit earlier tonight so might go bed at 7with the baby.

Feel like I wasted last few days.

Babys so happy and noisy cant believe last week how far her walkings progressed now 10steps unaided.

    I have kitchen to clean

  • Anyone else feeling like hibernating? I definitely do. Have zero motivation to do anything. Trying to find the positive spin on things, and rather failing at the moment. :( Spending far more time on here than I really ought to, when I should be hard at work.

I have tonnes of things I should be doing when I get home as well, but think I should be able to manage to put the vegetable soup on, feed the cats and then sit in a corner of the sofa and stitch my latest project. And then possibly bed by 8pm! :) ooh, living life on the edge, there!! :)

gailey - I have to say, that from reading your posts, it sounds to me like you do a damned fine job of looking after your home and your children :)

You are clearly a caring and loving Mother, and I doubt there are any Mothers on here who don't feel a bit overwhelmed by everything now and again. I know I did when my children were small....the housework in particular used to get me down when I couldn't keep on top of it, but at the end of the day, it's only a bit of dust and untidiness, not filth.

Your children aren't well, you sound as if you might be catching a cold, the weather is wet and miserable and things are tight, so understandably you feel fed up, and it's difficult to become motivated when you feel a bit down.

I think you should cut yourself some slack & accept that you're feeling a bit low. We ALL do now and again, I do at least once a month because the strain of constantly struggling financially takes it's toll and I'm human.

Rest up a bit (if you can when OH gets home early tonight) as things can look a whole lot better when you're not tired, and I think you'll be feeling brighter by the weekend, especially if the weather picks up, which it surely has to any day soon :)

Think the drearyness of the weather makes us feel demotivated. We all know that we feel better when the sun shines but all this rain and the greyness even when not raining makes us all feel lethargic and down.

Kept some of last nights tea in fridge for tonight when I put the rest in freezer. Know you aren't suppose to have same again but husband and son don't mind and at least I don't have to bother today. Might put a tin of chilli beans in to change it a bit. Bought some from Lidl, 39p I think in a nice chilli sauce.

At least not raining here - yet - but cold, windy and miserable.
