Gale force winds and heavy rain forecast for tonight....eek! I hope my pumpkins etc will all be alright. I always think the weather is so funny in this country - I was out on the water this morning and there was barely any wind at all, and the sea looked like a mill pond. Seems hard to believe it can change so much in a few hours. The weather here has been rubbish the past few days, raining on and off all the time. I did some washing on thursday and haven't been able to get it dry - I'm going to have to wash it again when we look like getting a dry day! Very annoying.

Going to make sure I get into the habit of making a loaf of bread every couple of days, now that OH is home all the time. Did pop into the supermarket earlier though and picked up a spare loaf for 19p, that can go in the freezer. I hate buying loaves at full price these days, seem so expensive!

This evening I'm going to attempt to mend my favourite pair of jeans, despite my poor seamstress skills! I was so annoyed - they were my best pair and only a year or so old, when they split on the crotch!! I think they're going to be tricky to mend as they haven't split at the seam, the actual denim itself has torn. Hopefully I'll be able to do a good enough job on them, as they are so lovely and comfy. At least the mend won't be easily seen!

Question - what are good containers for keeping flour in? I've been stocking up (bought another few kilos in Lidl the other day!) but figured they're prob best kept not just in the paper wrapping.

Hope everyone who lives down my way manages to batten down the hatches and doesn't get any damage!

    BB

Hi, i usually a lurker and absolutely love these forums! the support is brilliant. I have been driven to come out of lurkdom to confess a sin.... we just bought a rescue dog today, even though we don't have any money spare at the moment. So I though confessing on here would make me feel a tad better for ..... cancelling about 4 direct debits due out this week to cover the £90 we paid for her! Yikes!! I wouldn't normally do something so irresponsible.... but we just had to 'save' her! So she joins our other pets (1 dog, 2 cats and 2 hamsters). We have been wanting a friend for our other dog for some time and she just fits the bill.

I hope this forum runs for ages, it's great! Could someone please post a thread for the shabbychic forum, can't seem to navigate my way there!
    thanks guys

I've found the ideal containers for keeping flour are lock and lock ones. The 4 litre size that Lakeland sometimes have in are exactly the right size for a standard size packet of flour. I have to use two of them now - as I've swopped to a more "specialist" type flour and it comes in LARGE bags - but for ones out of the supermarket those 4 litre size ones are just the job.

Woke up early this morning (well early for me on a Sunday, 8am with no alarm but just a natural waking) so managed to get lots of jobs done including ironing, washing, a bit of gardening and helping my mum out. I made us a cooked breakfast and am now doing a Sunday roast, I can't even remember the last time we had a dinner like this at home, we had one at the in-laws but at home...different story. That should change though now we're getting a veggie delivery once a week and I'm trying to meal plan around that and eat a more healthy and balanced diet as I've let it slide a lot in recent months when I was miserable at work. I will NOT let hating my job damage my health any more!

Have done so much my plan for the rest of the evening is a glass of my half price wine (I try to go for wine that should be over £5 but is half price or reduced to under £5, I don't drink often so like to have nice stuff when I do, Mr. Ms is good for this as they have fantastic offers) then later I shall have a bath and read some more of my book and be happy and relaxed knowing my jobs for the day are done :D

meals on wheels lol like that

gailey re the hole in the crotch (!) trousers etc are usually made sewing from front waist round to the back waist, then from ankle to ankle..so depending how the seam is torn if you sew accordingly it shouldn't give you a lumpy gusset..I can't believe I just typed that :rotfl:..you know what I mean though :D

Just wanted to reassure everyone handstiched eldests jeggings inside out and no lumpy gusset thank goodness but other stitching now coming loose so not great quality.

Dident get to go carboot today as busy getting family ready as had family ocassion this afternoon.

Wasent raining for change looks bad now.

My dad was proudly telling one of his mates how Im keen forager and all stuff I made him.
Wish I had done more elderflower champagne have 15heads in freezer wondering if they would make good champagne.

Im pretty sure im to start on the elderry wine too but no idea how.

He admitted my carrot cake too sweet but was 1st attempt.
Apparently im inpatiant with tomatoes as they hopefully turn red in sept but might pick a few and make green chutney but recipie needs malt vinigar, cardamon and run out red onions.

Trying to work out a conserve schedule last night as want to make so much will do different thing each week.

The alcoholic things need to be done soon as take while to mature.

Went to see 'show me show me' yesterday (from cbeebies) then a walk along New Brighton prom and the boys had a couple of goes on the fair with last years left over tokens. Sure the amout of token per ride has gone up as some little rides that go round in circles were £2 a child!

Hoping to get back to money being sorted when OH gets paid on friday, its his bday thursday and still have to get his present once tax credits in on tuesday. These holidays have cost more than we thought.

Have ordered my high street vouchers now the £300 has been paid so will get them within 3 weeks, so can stsrt xmas shopping yey!!
