    Things just keep getting tougher.
I'm a childminder, and one of my contracts (the best paying one) ended last month. Pretty unexpectedly I might add. Their funding dried up as well and that rebounded on me ofcourse.

    Sooo.... tightwadding even more now!
And then my iron decided to give up this morning. I saw that one coming.. it has served me well for many years, and taken quite a few tumbles unfortunately. This morning it finally gave up and died.

I had a look around and bought one for just 15 euro!.. it was on special offer ofcourse. lol! Just a simple steam iron, no big techy stuff but it does the job beautifully so I'm pretty pleased with it. But it was 15 euro's I didn't really want to spend.
The veggie crops are a real let down this year as well. Had a terrible summer so no surprise really.

Oh well.. we'll soldier on. ;-)

Crickett hunny, more positive vibes heading yours and your parents way. I know you must be going mad not being there to help but try and stay calm .you won't be any help if you arrive there a frazzled wreck. Be strong and know we are all thinking of you.

Just been to Mums to sort out her forms for a head scan- her deafness is getting worse. Now of course she is panicking but I told her she is just a deaf old bat through working in noisy factories before they understood how it damaged your ears. Sil is going with her and has proved quite good at talking to docs - well she has to have some use apaprt from shopping for clothes. The 50 mile round trip to Mums is getting more and more often now. Jsut hoping brother retires soon and starts pulling his weight - after all he moved mum down to Bolton when dad died and I nursed dad for years. Sorry am being a grouch today

  • Thank you all of you. You guys are just so amazing. I cancelled a lunch meeting I had and went to Church at lunch instead. I am much calmer now. And now I have been given a job to do!! :)

Mum only packed clothes for three days, so DH and I are going to drive down to Wiltshire to get some clothes for her and some medicine for Dad, then drive to Putney to pick her up from Sisters flat, and then drive to the hospital to see Dad, make the delivery, make sure everyone are on their toes, and then drive home again. About 10 hours of driving I reckon. Phew.

Still, at least I am doing something.

That's good. We feel so helpless at times like these don't we? I'm sure your efforts will be so appreciated especially by your mum.

    Ok

next time we move threads can someone please tell the new mummy so she doesn't feel all lost and alone next time please!

We seem to be doing well here although I wish the same could be said for the rest of my family. Trying to figure out our new budget with little one in tow so tax credits and child benefit ave all changed and fingers crossed ill be aiming to get a new job before the end of the year even though my maternity is meant to finish in January - i don't particularly want to go back to my old job and old hours so something new should be on the cards i hope for me by then even if its cleaning in the nights.
So we are ok - had to take a loan out of a credit union to help us make the month with other half taking paternity leave but its going to cost us £43 in interest is all and repayable over a year so not too bad but still another debt we didn't need particularly.

have had two deaths in the last month, one the day before babe was borna dn one the day after! my grandfather was admitted to hospital the day before yesterday with some undiagnosed illness so they are 'running tests'. My grandmother just finished her chemo for non hodgkins lymphoma, and my dad has been ill for two weeks with some bug he picked up in Zante!

On another note my sister and her eldest daughter has had to move back in with my mother . The father of her youngest daughter was messing her around and refusing to give babe back and demanding custody so he put in a claim even though he has had her on and off since March but claimed he'd had her full time since then so confused the benefits office and now my sister has nearly £1600 to repay them apparently and a £1K of other debts so her fridge consists of bacon, cheese and an egg, nothing in the cupboards or freezer and my mum has been feeding her the last two weeks. So my sister is leaving her rented house in 3 weeks to move back into my mothers 2 bedroomed house so her and her daughter (she's 4) will be sharing a bed in the spare room and the only other thing she is taking is their clothes and some of her daughters toys. She has had to put her dog up for sale which she's gutted about, swap her daughters schools and now cant afford school uniform for her so I've been sat here all day looking at that for her so at least something is done. Sister is applying for jobs that she can do round her daughters school but she has people to watch her daughter if she is home within her work hours.

SO now Im stressing because I know it will fall on my mum to pay for things until my sister gets a job...........if she gets a job. Which ultimately means Ill worry about my mum and will probably end up using my coop discount as much as I can to help fill her freezer for her with discounted bits and pieces to relieve some of the stress.

My mothers boyfriend is useless and him and my sister have come to blows before over how he teats my mum, fingers crossed it might mean my mum will actually get rid of him - shes been miserable in the relationship for a while but didn't want to be alone so now she has company fingers crossed she will see the light!

Plus have a friend over tonight who is letting me use his credit card to pay a £170 bill then I can give him the money on Thursday when I have it all. In return I am cooking him dinner - ok so shepherds pie but bulked out with cheap veg and oats :T

God if stress burnt calories I'd easily be a size zero now.

Still at least Ive mastered the getting on-line to talk to all you nice people whilst feeding the baby and amusing a 6 year old! and with all the housework done and tea cooking!

hugs to all who need them!
    Time to find me again

Still shouldent moan wecould be far worse.

yesterday read sunday observer for change.

In USA they call the unemployed 99 ers wondered why?

Shockingly they only get 99weeks of dole then no more money off state..
Lots cant afford basic healtcare and live on foodstamps
We think they wealthy but someareas much poorer than uk.
They doing defecit reduction wnated to shut all the public libaries in one city, in one state the schools droped1school day and they removed bus routes to poorer areas that people relied on for work sounds really bad over there and such a different image to what we imagine, suddenly austerity britain doesnot seem as harsh as whats happening in other countries.
