  • Had a lovely weekend, refreshed for my week at work and the poleaxed by a call I received from my Mother this morning. She and Dad were staying with my sister in London for the weekend and Dad had "an episode" last night. It sounds like a bad stroke, though the hospital where he was admitted has done a scan and doesn't think it was a stroke. Anyway, he is a bad way, and is acting very unlike himself. Mum is staying strong, but only just, and I am 200 miles away feeling like a spare whatsit in a thingummy. I am waiting for Mum to receive a call from the hospital to tell us what has happened since Mum came back from the hospital in the early hours, and then i am either going to be going to London on an emergency train ticket (might be cheaper to drive, actually) or driving to Wiltshire to help there.

Any positive thoughts/prayers you could throw in the general direction of my Dad and Mum, would be very gratefully received.

Sending positive thoughts to you and your family Crickett. I know what it's like to be so far away when a family member gets taken to hospital, you feel so helpless.

I hope the hospital finds out what's ailing your dad and can give the appropriate treatment. (((hugs)))

  • *sniff* you lot are fabulous. Thanks! Going off to sniffle some more in the corner. I tell you though, my concentration at work is shot to hell and back. Am shuffling paper from one pile to another at the moment and doing nothing constructive, but better that here, than going bonkers at home. Have told my boss and put her on warning that I might need to scarper at a moments notice and why, and she was great. Totally understood and said I could go if I needed to.

Thanks again folks. You lot are wonderful.
