Nature is awesome. and is what life on earth is all about. Is the reason for getting up in the mornings.
You're right there, Mardatha. The last of the day's sun is glowing in the tops of the tall trees at the back of my house and there are two birds, with the most beautiful songs, in the garden trying to outsing each other. Even though I feel exhausted atm it lifted my spirit to hear them.0 -
We've got green parrots in the trees, on the fields outside. They squawk like mad and fly around at the speed of sound.
:eek:Felines are my favourite

Do you mean put crumpled newspaper in the bottom of the bin??? Or as the leaves grow. I thought the more you earthed up, the more potatoes you were supposed to get? Sorry to sound thick.
You don't sound thick, all gardeners started from the same point as you;)
Drop into the gardening forum on here, a friendly bunch, full of oldies, newbies and those in between
Newspaper on top of your 10" of soil.
The reason for earthing up is to stop the sun getting to the shallow growing spuds so they don't turn green.
Plenty of fertilizer is the key to a good crop.
Useful website for growing all sorts of things and his book is well worth it.

We have loads of them here in London. Started in west London and spread to the south east bit where I live about 10 years ago.
Was amazed when I first saw them, now I see more parrots than sparrows!0 -
what the heck are you drinking parrots in London?
all i see is robins, sparrows, hawks, crows and the occasional kingfisher divebombing the cats water bowls.0 -
My mum lives In Surrey. The parrots are noisy blighters. My brother had a huge roost of them behind his old house and prayed that when people came to view his house the parrots weren't around as they were so noisy. Rumour has it that they escaped from Shepperton Studios back in the day-Not sure how true that is.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Very weird ! Here we get loads of birds but not many small garden ones, think we must have a sparrowhawk somewhere. This week I've seen the heron, a woodpecker, loads of jackdaws, magpies, buzzards (with their noisy babies), sparrows, blackbirds - and I can hear, but not see, the lovely skylark. I love birds0
