Yes Esther, try again. I tried once years ago and had the same result as you, didnt bother again until last year when it worked fine. This year we have tons of potatoes and a doz big onions and I had lovely lettuce.
No bike annie, its pouring down here, sky is black. Anyway he's away along to play with his pal in their ganghut LOL - man along the road has ten bikes - all inside sheds and the two of them play happily for days on end.
The only shop I ever get to is Sainsburys once a week and Costco . Do the bank, post office, library and shops on the same day and that's it. However I'll just need to content meself and find something to play at eh.. :)

Gailey, sounds like a 6.5 litre slow cooker would be the right size. I highly recommend the Crockpot brand. I have a Crockpot and a cheapy slow cooker. The lid on the cheapy one doesn't fit tightly so it always has bubbles of condensation coming out of it. Also, the pot bit can only be used in the slow cooker, whereas my Crockpot crock can also be used on the hob with the heat distributer matt that comes with it, and it can be used in the oven too.

Mardatha, I bet that was a surprise seeing that bull in your garden. Before we had a dog we never used to close the gate to the drive and we had sheep and horses wander in!

I'm having 3 grandchildren staying with me this afternoon/evening and have bought 2 x bars S/bury's basic chocolate, 1 white, 1 milk and am planning to make chocolate crispie cakes using any cereal and muesli left in the bottom of packets to mix in with it. Should be interesting!

Think you might be right as think I would find that feature useful and they look lovley and want it to be big enough for family of 4 plus extra plus cook meats in it best start saving.

I know exactly what you mean Mardatha we don't go out for days on end and I get stir crazy but like you I have my projects and they keep me going a bit. I have just spent nearly a fortnight in waiting for Dh to feel well enough to go out - then he went fishing! Im lucky that grandson is here to distract me but somedays I wish everyone would just bu**er off. I went from a workaholic to a carer and though I do enjoy not going to work (more than I ever thought) its just the 4 walls syndrome. Now my arthiritis is so bad that buses really annoy me but I did escape this morning to Morrisons - yay me. Im not complaining I had to accept my role change its just a bit stressful somedays. By the way would the bull fit in the slow cooker - problem solved :rotfl:

But I wasnt going to argue with him cos the fence is only 3 strands of thin wire LOL -then his lady friends came along and took what he had left, then they all had a scratch on my shed and it MOVED. godsake.

Maybe if you'd gone out there with your spinning wheel they'd have remembered what they heard about Mar and the sheep and scarpered :rotfl:

Don't think to poach pears. Could I put in crumbles then as well?
Yes. If they're a bit tasteless they can be used to bulk out more expensive berry fruits (Raspberry, blueberry etc) Here's a recipe for Pear Chutney, on a page with lots more links.

Mardatha - and others in this situation

I'm not surprised that you go stircrazy stuck at home - I'd be up the walls and out the window backwards myself....

I just checked out the Argos catalogue and put "wheelchair" in the search box and, amongst other stuff, it came up with 3 mini-scooters.

    A folding one for £799.99

and two others for £1,099.99 and £1,499.99 respectively.

Errr....I did read your mention of the income you are living on and thought "Thats LOW:eek:".

Something like Social Services or the NHS "should" supply something like that to anyone who needs one - don't know whether they actually do or no though. My suspicion is that - even though they are obvious necessities - that they probably refuse to do so. Otherwise - why would a firm be selling them like this......

Have you checked to see whether Social Services/NHS "do their duty" and provide one if its necessary?

If they refuse to do so - then would something like Age Concern (think they might have a new name now??) be able to help out in any way? I would imagine reconditioned ones come up for sale too...and dont know how much they would be...

I'd loathe/detest/feel thoroughly sorry for myself if I ever needed to use anything like that personally - but would just have to give myself a stern lecture that it really wasnt any reflection on me if I had to and go and get one sorted out if the choice was between feeling very conspicuous/etc/etc using one or feeling stircrazy stuck indoors. So I can understand if you don't want to be seen out in something like that - but if needs must and its the only way to get out then I suppose having to use one is the lesser of two evils..

You might like This Page then. Now I can't resist looking in the Lakeland sale because of the link on the last page I posted :o
