I'm so happy i could jump and do the bunny hop :D.

Probably best if you don't! :rotfl: Enjoy your bath!

Nice to read good news on here tonight.

Katiegizmo, great news about your OH getting the job. That must be a weight off your shoulders and how lovely that there were people on the train who congratulated you. As an ex-Londoner I know the normal *etiquette* on trains is to ignore everyone and avoid eye contact, so it's good to hear that that's not always the case. :)

Thanks Giger.... though I think anyone would have been hard pressed to ignore the squeaks I was making!! :rotfl:It's funny, I live in quite a small town, so at one end of my journey everyone talks to eachother but at the other end everyone does their best to ignore eachother! I do prefer talking though, I talk to anyone :)

It's definitely a weight of my shoulders... we owe my Gran a little bit of money and hadn't told her our troubles as she's not in the best of health and I didn't want to worry her. I was worried about managing to pay her back... I so hate owing money!

....it does make me cross the flogging that the public sector is getting. We are all being tarred with the same brush....
Isn't that always the way :o The biggest problem is folk automatically think 'public sector' are those bureaucratic buffoons who sit in leather chairs around a ma-hoosif oak table & instigate stupid rules for the rest of us to follow  Reality is those two little words cover a whole plethora of front-line workers too, so perhaps we need to be more specific about who we are directing our anger towards.
....decluttering the loft. *Gulp*. That is going to be horrible....the loft is an utter tip as well....If Sunday is rainy, we might do it then.
O-O-O-O-H-H-H-h-h Y-Y-Y-E-E-S-S-S-s-s-s-s _pale_ Would suggest you aim for dry weather, as if your loft contents are anything like ours, you'll need the garden to sort out everything! The dust is horrendous & we've found crockery wrapped in newspapers dated 1982

Had a mini result today courtesy of MrT actually :) They've a promotion on at the moment where you get £20 off a particular brand of PAYG mobile if you spend £40+ on your groceries etc, so me muvva & I put our shopping together this afternoon. Then I doubled up some points vouchers & got a decent phone without paying an extra penny :T Please don't ask me if I can use it to get on-line as I haven't fathomed that bit out yet, but it looks pretty :rotfl:

I have just eaten dinner from the garden using marrow as the main meal and making rhubarb muffins for pudding, delicious!

Do you have a recipe for the rhubarb muffins? :) They sound lovely. I will have to make them for for my daughter though as I am determindly sticking to my diet. I am going to try and catch up on some house work today and do a bit a cooking. I have spent the last few days clearing out and cleaning the garage. Does anyone have a recipe for scotch pancakes? The recipe I tried yesterday didn't work out great.

Well - in mitigation Charis - I wouldnt feel sorry for them having to miss holidays in Dubai and Barbados and the like or about having to sell any flash cars.

BUT - I do wonder whether its necessarily as easy to sell an expensive house as all that. Yes - I would react to the situation they are in by suggesting "Perhaps you should move to a cheaper house then.." - but it may not be possible to sell the house readily for enough to pay back the mortgage and cover the costs involved to swop to a cheaper house - so some people might get stuck in a house that was too expensive for them (even though they were trying to sell it) IYSWIM.

Private schools is something else I would sympathise with - as if I'd got children at private schools I would "bust every gut going" to try and keep them there - unless they themselves wanted to go to a State school anyway AND I could find a State School nearby that I felt okay about sending them to...

It also must be hard to lose the "social life" one has built up - and that would clearly be necessary if one associated with wealthy people with a "flash" lifestyle. It does very much depend what one's social life is like anyway. To me - it doesnt matter that I am on a low income - as my social life consists of mixing with people who often have a decent to high income BUT it's accepted that all of us (whether on low or high income) live pretty simply anyway by choice. No-one dresses flashily, everyone either is vegetarian or happily accepts eating vegetarian food, etc. The way to UPSET my group of friends would be to visibly go off on flash holidays/serve up expensive or "junk food" meals to them and drive flash cars - so my simple lifestyle fits right in anyway. Another way to upset people in this group would be for anyone to boast about having had a private education - though, when I sit and think about, there are probably quite a few who have - but no-one has ever mentioned it/would mention it.

So - I think its reasonable to show a bit of compassion - even in those circumstances.

No-one EVER thinks "bad stuff" will happen to them - until it does..

Thanks for the link Charis. I think the lesson here is that all the classes were suckered into the easy credit and champagne lifestyle that was being thrown around. I saw a lot of my friends move into bigger and better houses whilst we have stayed in our modest 3 bed terrace. I'll be honest - I was very tempted to get something bigger, as it seemed so easy to get a mortgage, but now I'm so glad I didn't. I wonder how many of them are struggling now and hiding it?

I do feel sorry for anyone who literally can't find the money to pay for food, whether it was through their own short-sightedness or just bad luck. It's a miserable horrible way to live. My sympathy does lesson when they are unwilling to try and make any changes though.

You can make your own buttermilk gailey, just add lemon juice

THANKS for the link I never knew it was that easy. I have used the method to make Grassmere cake which doesnt need any eggs. So I will be able to try other recipes now:T
