  • Service seems fine - ie. they emailed me the ticket which I paid for - BUT the customer service has to be the worst I have ever encountered.

Unhelpful, terrible phone lines, uninformed, argumentative.

I am now seeking a refund purely based on the fact that I don't trust these clowns with my flight. Assuming I'm going to be in for a fight...
  • I registered specially to post because I regret viewing this thread only after I'd made the payment for my flight.

I was halfway through the booking process (after entering my details but still at the payment page) when I got distracted and went to do something else. A few minutes later I received a call from them. The man on the phone was extremely insistent that I made the payment immediately, and he waited on the line for me to do so. After I'd completed it he called back again 8 minutes later telling me that my flight had gone up by 60 pounds because the original one was cancelled, and that if I were to wait a few minutes more the price would go down again. What is this, are we playing at shares? I never knew there was a market for air tickets to obscure places from an obscure airport.

Very worried now, that 500 pounds was the last of what I could spare for a trip.. I will update as soon as I receive my ticket.
  • Hi again,

I received my ticket and confirmation within 45 minutes of making the booking. I guess 9flights have finally come round to realizing that customers are willing to pay more in order to not compromise the level of service that they receive. They do still have to do something about the politeness of their customer service officers though...

I did book a ticket with them and got the email the next day. It seems to be valid on checkmytrip.

However, the customer service I experienced was not fantastic.
Their live chat is very poor (responses are slow, informal/impolite/textspeak English), the leave a message function on their website did not give any responses to my email after submitting the question multiple times, I was promised £10 cash back on their website when booking if I booked in the next 5 minutes, then get fobbed off afterwards chasing it up, so I gave up as I think there's no chance it will happen.

Haven't been on the flight yet, hope everything goes fine.

Having a little look a high market travel's website, it shares the appalling level of English with 9flights if nothing else. I literally spent about 10 seconds on their front page to find this informative quote. Its suggesting you should travel to Zimbabwe and Zambia, or its supposed to be.

"The originality and the proximity of different contrasts, making Africa a target of many faces. A particular objective on a journey through Africa, the Victoria Falls. They are located in Zimbabwe and Zambia and have for years"

Either someone has had the clever business idea to trade of the prominence on Google of this page when you search '9flights review' with a less-than-clever website or its just a rebranded 9 flights, I'd guess the latter.
  • Oh well seems everyone having the same poor service with that website and their customer service! "Their english worse than mine :)" . I booked my flight on 30May2012 and surprise surprise got it on 30Jun , not only that and the ticket is more expensive than buying it from the airlines website directly in about 35£ !!! I tried to contact them so many times and sent emails have got no official answer yet other than a guy called me from India who actually doesn't know basic English !!

From my experience I would not recommend such website at all.
  • I also appear to have been scammed by this company. I have paid £640 for flights from London Heathrow to Bangkok. I have since discovered (when trying to print my eticket, not as a result of being informed by 9flights) that my were flights were cancelled as they were unable to take payment from my debit card. I have indeed paid the amount of £640 and so as you can imagine am very angry. I have had 4 very difficult conversations with call centre workers who do not speak much english, eachtime being promised a phone call back in 10 minutes which never came. They also attempted to get me to pay an additional £780 for different flights to Bangkok!

What have all of these people in these forums done to get a refund from this company? I will be contacting them again tomorrow as well as consumer trading. I will take legal action if need be. Has anyone recieved a refund voluntarily from 9flights and how long did this take?

I've been searching for flights to Egypt in August (lastminute lol) and trying to find the best deal I can. Thought I'd hit the jackpot when I found flights at least £60-100 cheaper with a company called 9 Flights and Crystal Travel. The 9 Flights site looked a bit dodgy to me so I decided to go for the next one, which was only £1 more, Crystal Travel. However as prices were fluctuating (even flights on Thomas Cook were disappearing fast) I thought I'd call to double check they were genuine and had the seats at £460 as on their site.

I ended up speaking to someone who's obviously in an Indian call centre and who had really bad English. The first thing he did was confirm my mobile number which I thought a bit odd. He said the flight I wanted was not available at the price I wanted. He quoted £550, which after a quick search on EgyptAir (the actual airline) was at least £20 more than what they wanted. I didn't tell him this, but I said I was not interested as I could find cheaper fares. He then asked with who and I said with Egypt Air. He then said he would look on their site to see their prices (?!) and after two minutes he asked me what price I had. I refused to tell him (by now I was obviously smelling a huge rat) and he sat silent for 30 seconds and then said - well what do you want to pay for the flight? (!!!!)

I laughed and said as little as possible, but he was trying to force me to change dates. I wasn't interested and kept trying to end the conversation but he was so desperately trying to sell me a fare that he said he could do different dates for £500. I quite firmly said I was not interested in staying in Egypt for longer (more costs with hotel etc) but he kept jabbering away and not listening so I hung up.

The next thing I knew I got a call from them! How desperate is this, seriously. The number that flashed up on my mobile is a London number but after he left a voicemail I got a mobile number coming through! This is clearly some really dodgy operation that are not based in London at all. Anyway I ignored it but I'm praying my mobile number isn't given to some Indian spammers! Really annoyed, wish I hadn't called them at all. PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT CONFIRM YOUR MOBILE NUMBER WITH THESE CREEPS!

The thing is if I hadn't seen this thread I would have fallen for their scam like everyone else. Also I didn't know that 9 Flights and Crystal Travel were the same outfit but it doesn't surprise me, their prices are nearly identical on Skyscanner. I've just bought my flight with Opodo for £506. It's a small saving, not as large as I thought but it's just not worth the hassle in my opinion. I'd hate to shell out the same money (£500 he quoted in the end and not £460 as advertised on their site) to be worried about everything. Thanks to MSE'rs for this thread. ;)

Where do I start with this company. I have been lied to and given the run-around like I have never experienced. When I have calmed down a bit I will put the full story on! All I tried to arrange was a stopover in the middle east on the way back from Beijing to see our daughter who has emigrated since we made the original booking.
And they expect us to start our journey without knowing that we have flights to get home. Yes they saved us a few quid when we made the booking, but I just wish now that I had made the booking with the airline directly. Seriously do not use them.
