  • I just posted this at trip advisor but noticed this thread hasn't had an update for a few months, so here goes:

    9flights/Crystal Travel are not a nice company.

    I recently had to take them to court to recover money lost due to them changing my flights (booked five months previously) at the last minute. I gave them ample opportunity to remedy the problem but ended up having to book alternative return flights elsewhere. Dealing with their customer services is one of the most futile and frustrating experiences of my life. The saga dragged on all through the month I was away on holiday and then eventually after six months back home I filed a claim in the courts against them. They settled in full before it went to court but I don't feel I would have got back the money owed if I hadn't done this.

    I think their business model relies on most people giving up and not chasing what is owed to them.

    Not worth the hassle. Buy direct from the airline. I wish I had!

    If you are already involved in a dispute with them, all I can say is don't waste your time trying to resolve the problem on the phone or by email or in writing. They don't respond and will continuously fob you off with lies and excuses. I wasted over 60 phone calls, tens of emails and several written letters trying to communicate with them and didn't manage to extract a single significant response. The only thing they respond to is the court.
  • pls try avoid this travel agent 9.flights , they are dishonest don't put u faith with them , they are trying to charge me nearly 1000 £ for just title changes by cancelling recent tickets and booking again , they are doing kind of scam to get more money and giving false information as well ...

    Not in defence of 9.flights at all and irrespective of who the agent was.....but who made the errors in the titles? and have you spoken to the airline to see if they even care that the title is wrong? names must match the passport but passports do not include titles

    Hi.......I, too, wish I'd seen this thread earlier! I've booked (and paid) to go to Sydney next March.....I had the '2nd email' promptly....and I've just checked on Qantas site and yes, my booking is there. HOWEVER, I'm very worried by posts on here saying they (9Flights) had changed people's flights -- often at the last minute -- so any advice please?? (My dates are absolutely crucial).....

    Speak to Qantas and get them to confirm fully paid flights,and ask them if they could possibly be subject to further charges or cancellation,tell them your concerns with 9 flights/Christal Travel.

    Update! I have spoken to Qantas this afternoon and they have assured me that everything is in order....the flights are paid for and the booking definitely exists!! HOWEVER, in view of all these warnings, I wanted to change the contact number (for me) from the 9Flights one just in case......lo and behold the 'system' wouldn't let me!!! so after explaining to the nice Qantas lady, she has managed to make me the first point of contact in the event of a schedule change etc........ but I have definitely been warned!

    Slightly worryingly, I've just spoken to Qantas again and they say that although they now have a note on my booking to phone ME..... the travel agent (in this case 9Flights) can in fact make changes etc to the flights becuase it's in their (9Flights) system..... She advised that if I DO get any calls etc from them, to check directly with Qantas and make sure any 'change' is legit. Also, since I do have a ticket, my seat is GUARANTEED....... shouldn't have to be like this tho!!

    this tends to be the case whichever agent you book through. The airline does not have control of your booking till 24 hours before the flight, until that point everything is through the agent (which is why many people choose to book direct with the airlines)

    I didn't realise that!!! (First time I've flown long-haul for some years!) Guess I'll just have to pray then.........

    These days you can often get a good deal booking direct through the Airline. I've recently booked some flights with MAS, and they were nearly 10% than going through an Agency via the Internet.
