I have been looking forward to an iphone 4, in fact i was outside O2 shop on launch day but was a few minutes too late.

I have the chance to get one in the morning. I was going to wait and see what happens regarding the reception issues. Im confused as some say its not a problem but others say it is.

Please could I have advice from anyone who has the iphone 4, do you regret buying it?What would you do in my shoes?

Thanks in advance
ps. Case not possible for me as used mainly for sat nav and needs to slide in and out of car holder easily.

I don't have an iPhone 4 but I will be getting one. In your position, I would not hesitate; I'd have the phone in a bag and out of the shop as quickly as possible. In truth, I and many others on this website are probably quite envious of you! I've read the reviews and the comments on various websites and it appears that although people have been able to replicate the "death grip", very few have actually reported it as a day to day issue.

You mention that you need it to fit into a holder in your car, but have you looked at the bumpers? How about a silicon case?

Good luck with your new phone tomorrow.

    Thanks Oscar,

I use an app that AFAIK is only available on iphone, its mobile pos which I use to take credit cards, so I think that rules HTC out.

Since upgrading my 3GS to os4 it seems to run slower and the tomtom is not as good, so on a plus side getting the iphone 4 would hopefully solve these issues ( the gps receiver on iphone 4 is brilliant).

Im in and out of the van all day so need a holder/charger that I can just throw the phone in without messing about. I dont know of any holders/chargers that let the phone fit with a case or bumpers?

No reception issues for me - I can make the signal appear to drop sometimes (not always though) but haven't had any dropped calls or anything like that. The cameras are excellent - a huge step up from my old 3G. iMovie on the phone is very cool - even my Android evangelical friends were impressed at a fairly slickly edited movie knocked up in a couple of minutes in the pub.

I've always kept my iPhone in a leather case (Beyza) but take it out to use it. I've never dropped my phone, but would worry a bit with the iPhone 4 as there are lots of reports of the glass cracking. It's still a very impressive design though - I'd take the glass and steel over plasticy phones any day (including my old 3G).

(Side issue/off topic/whatever - I do find the idea of owning anything called "Legend" or "Desire" not really to my taste, but it's jolly good that the option is there for people who like that sort of thing. Not a comment on the phones, just the names!).

To be honest, even though I have serious issues with the OS4 update for the 3G iPhones as my iPhone has fallen fowl to the bug ridden software, I would certainly update to a iPhone 4 and plan to next year (earlier if I can't get the 3G issue sorted out).

Forget the Desire and look at the HD2, wipes the floor with the Iphony.

I have got an iPhone 4 - 32GB. It was delivered last friday from Tesco's.

I havent had any issues with "grip of death". But i have had it in a case from the day i got it.

I have got an incipio feather case. It is only 1mm thick. (Had one for my 3GS and it was perfect)

I know that my old 3GS with the case on did fit in some docks etc..
But not heard anything about the iPhone 4 version and i havent tried it in any docks either.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!! A Windows Phone? That's really funny!!!......

.... You're not joking...... ok..... um.....right...... Did you read OP's 2nd post on this thread? No? Perhaps you should go back and look at it...... Yes; that's right. They want a phone that runs a specific app that's available for the iPhone and are talking about upgrading from their existing 3G iPhone to the new one.

Now before you get all shirty and try to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, my current phone is a Windows Phone and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Don't get me wrong; it does exactly what it says on the tin. It just lacks style, apps and is the least user friendly phone I've ever had.

+1. Voted by thousands of people to be the best device by HTC in 2009.

IMO, has much greater flexibility and ability to customise than any other of the top smartphones - whether it be the iPhone or HTC Desire or Xperia X10.

It still maintains all important features of a smartphone - WiFi, GPS, 3G, Bluetooth, etc and boasts a 1GHZ Processor, making the device just work.

Forget Windows phones until the end of the year.

Windows mobile 7 is out then and Microsoft have already said most if not all current phones will not be upgradable. App developers will not be in a rush to develop something for a dying platform.

Nothing wrong with the OS, it's obvious it's come from a desktop base, but it's perfectly useable, buy you are buying into a platform that has about the same future viability as WebOS at the moment.

A lot of current Windows Mobile users do not want to use Windows Phone 7, because of it's lack of features - some of which Windows Mobile has become famous for. Therefore, there will be many Windows Mobile 5/6/6.5 users still out there, and the 'App Developers' will still develop for them. Most applications for Windows Mobile are usable inbetween versions, e.g. I can use an app made when Windows Mobile 5 was out, on my Windows Mobile 6.5 device.

Apps are being created and released at a rate of knots, check this link out. It's just the Windows Marketplace hasn't become famous for having so many applications.

OP, if you went with the HD2 you wouldn't be making a bad choice. It has some amazing specs, a beautiful user interface, and a large supporting forum.
