don't worry ellas9602, everyone feels like this from time to time whether they are 'os'ers or not. Take some time off and have a rest, treat yourself to a nice bubble bath and some 'me' time.

I think all these people who are into 'retail therapy' are not any happier, its just a front and they are probably jealous of you because you have your family, kids, health etc...

Give yourself time, treat yourself, you will feel better.

    Cheerio chuck :)

You should definitely treat yourself. If you're normally so good (and it sounds as if you are) what's it going to hurt if you spend £10-£20 on a treat for yourself? Some new make-up, a new top, new underwear, or just some bubble bath and a bottle of wine and some choccys!! :D
I know it's hard not to feel inadequate when you see glossy girls walking about at work. When I was paying off my cc I got quite down some days because I never had new clothes on and couldn't afford half the gorgeous make-up/hair products I thought I needed!! Just do whatever it takes to help you feel good about yourself. Going to the gym is great - maybe get a new plan to improve your fitness? You feel better about yourself for being fit and active despite what the scales say.

Do you have a primark near you? Maybe go and buy a few nice new tops and things for work.

Chin up - like Biddyrolo says, you have wonderful kids, St Tropez and a manicure can only bring so much joy.

I DONT CARE! I just want a nice treat!

I've been like this all week, very nearly just walked into shops and blown a big wad of cash. All of my summer clothes suddenly seemt to look ridiculous

But then I stop and think, 'dont be silly, you can't buy new clothes...YOU'RE TOO FAT!!! :rotfl:
  • Firstly, don't worry about the glamour girls! They sound like what the Americans call '30K Millionaires' - eg someone earning £20k a year or probably less, but who lives as if they're a millionaire (on credit of course...)

Secondly, remember that Old Style is not a penance!! You can have treats from time to time, even ones that cost a bit - it's just that you need to make sure it's within budget. My granny was the original old styler but wasn't averse to the occasional trip to the theatre, holiday in the sun, hamper from Harrods, etc...which she was able to afford precisely because of her old-style habits!

Don't know what to suggest, being a chap, but sending cheering-up type thoughts your way (and everyone else who is p1ssed off).

There are people around you that love you, no matter what. That, alone should be some comfort

  • OMG this is soooo me. Everyone I work with is thinner, younger, more glam, spends in expensive shops and generally sickeningly more "cool" (well, not everyone but sometimes it seems like that). There are 4 of us in the place who are not "dollies" as I call them). However, I would like to see their credit card bills (i refer you to my BIL and SIL who complained that since having their son they can't buy their meals ready made ....... and I've noticed the chanel lipsticks have disappeared as well). MIL and I often talk about how much debt they must be in - MIL and DIL gave us some money to hold (it's their's but we've got it so they can get the HA cheapo rent). Our amount is still intact but I bet BIL and SIL isn't.... if indeed any of it is still left.
At the other extreme my winter coat was £20 off e-bay - and it's full length wool - and they all turn up in little jackets complaining about feeling cold (bit more meat on 'em for a start wouldn't go amiss). Do any local hairdressers have a models night? It's usually a lot cheaper than paying full price and they are supervised so you ain't going to come out looking like vera Duckworth. Gte a make over - be firm though when it comes to buying and do your best " oooh I don't know.." and you'll some freebies. Got any trashy novels from the library? Nice big bubble bath and a trashy read always does me. I think the car boot is a great idea - and you may even find a real bobby dazzler!!!! (tan not included). Take a bit of me time to recharge your batteries - even if it's just wandering around an art gallery and then treating yourself to a coffee afterwards - it makes all the difference. And remember - they may be living it large but the credit card bill cometh!!!
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

You are 25, you cope with children and the house and work. You have a figure, you have control. They have orange skin and credit. Take some time for yourself if you can and use some suggestions off the web, http://www.free-beauty-tips.com/homemade.html looks quite good.

As far as being a bit big Fern Brittan said. I'm comfortable, I'm happy and when I take my clothes off, I look rude!:D

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!
  • This is going to sound like such a weird suggestion but hear me out and the OSer in you will really appreciate it.

Have an hour or so browsing on the web putting together the holiday of your dreams. Tell yourself money is no object. Check out the hotels, choose the best flight, etc. (Expedia are really handy for this as you can have a good look at most of the hotels). Then research the place you are going to for nightlife, shopping, attractions, etc. Send yourself off on a little dream. But DON'T book anything. While you are actually doing the browsing you will feel better and in the morning when you realise how much you have saved by not booking anything the OSer in you will give you a pat on the back for not spending frivilously. PLUS, you can give yourself a goal to aim for when your LOs are all grown up.

I swear this has made me feel much better on more than one occasion.

If that fails, some wine, some crisps and Mr Darcy always do it for me. :rotfl:
