Yes, well. People are quick to shout about making people fend for themselves. Would you like to go back to the days of small children with rickets and impetigo and chilblains. Would you like to go back to that ? Would you like it to be your kids ? And dont tell me it didnt happen - because it did. And can easily happen again.
not much has changed really. the only difference is that the kids are morbidly obese nowadays, as their diet consists mainly of crisps. is that any better?0 -

I applied for a job with the anti-discrimination people over here. They only employ Australian citizens (seriously they do).

Having been to poor areas of America, I didn't like what I saw, many homeless people in bad health actively begging - stopping people in the street or following them.
If you look on American forums, many of them say they look for British men online, so they could marry and get free NHS. Apparently their rules have changed over there and they now can't put their medical bills into bankruptcy.
They have to queue for food parcels too.
I wouldn't like this country to end up like america, but we are too generous with our welfare payments now.
I'm shocked when I read the benefits board as I didn't realise just how much people are given, even if they have just left home and have never paid into the pot. One poster said the government has been paying the interest on his/her mortgage for the last 12 years:eek:
Perhaps a fairer system to the workers who work and don't claim, would be to decide on an amount of tax so that they still have a good standard of living, then use the taxes raised to pay for the urgent things first and see what is left for everyone else.RENTING? Also (as I found) if you apply for a job as a cleaner or whatever as a bourgeois person, employers aren't interested because they assume (quite rightly) that you will just beggur off when something better comes along.
That's what happened to me when my youngest started school. I applied for a job with a building society as a counter cashier for a few hours a day, but got a letter back saying I was overqualified for those jobs and that they had put me in for job of assistant mananger. Yes, that job would have fitted in around school times...not.
Just to rub salt in the wounds, a few days later I got another letter saying that I had been unsuccessful for the job of assistant manager! Barst@rds:D
