There are plenty of affordable houses in Cornwall, as long as you are prepared to restrict your choices in the way the OP will have to.0 -
You are right, but Wee Willy is desperate to give her a house anywhere she likes as soon as she screams DV regardless of the facts. This is our benefit / legal aid system in action.
I'm taking the OP at face value and advising her of her rights and responsibilities. I thought that was the whole point of these boards.0 -

Ah, c'mon Willy, you are back-pedalling! The lady is NOT the subject of domestic violence, hence your wise words on the topic are superfluous.
Mind you, threats to kill might just be a reason for getting out pretty damn quick. Perhaps some advice to her on the subject might be suitable."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools"

Shame cornwall council has not got a copy of this LOL0 -

No Willy, you advised her on her 'rights', regardless of the true facts. That's why this country is bankrupt and so unfair. If you were working for the council you would have housed her wouldn't you and gone home feeling soooooooooooooooooooooo good about helping make this poor woman happy and not one of the '2 a week'. It's good to feel good. As for locals on the housing list...... well never mind they can wait unless they threaten their wife in which case they get rehoused.0 -
She was only 15 when they met (he was 30) - her mum had taken to her to a nightclub even though she was underage, and was happy to let the bouncer Moat buy her drinks and take her home at the end of the night. Very sad.
that's just so foreign to any idea of family life I had when I was 15! Poor girl....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
The OP didn't say last year that there had been dv or threats of violence from one of her ex partners, but that he was causing trouble & making life stressfull. I wouldn't expect anyone to write about all their personal issues in a public forum, however there was no mention then of dv.
She was asking whether she would be able to get rehoused in Cornwall for a fresh start & to receive help from her current partners family. There were only 3 posts made on one day concerning it.
I lived in Cornwall & social housing there is very difficult to come by. Employment probably as difficult, summer there's work & no housing, winters housing & no work.
All the cases of DV I know of the person fleeing would do it secretly, they wouldn't be discussing their options on an open forum. I am maybe assuming rather a lot when I say that I assume the OP is using her name as her id on here. There's an awful lot of info on here about her, including pics of her children, so that if she was fleeing she could easily be found.
Maybe the Father of the eldest boy was angry because he found out that his son was being moved out of the area? I'm not saying that is an excuse to become violent & threatening.
I'm also assuming that the ex wasn't a joint tenant so had no right to be in the house & an injunction could have been taken out.
If the OP had worked with the police & her LA in the case of DV then that could have been worked round & a solution found, her LA could have moved her, with police backing. It's probably a lot easier to get yourself lost in a place like Surrey then it would be in Cornwall.
There was also a partner in the middle so I wonder why the first ex wasn't a problem then, only when she met someone who wanted to move to Cornwall.
I am well aware of the horror of dv and was always trained to believe a woman who was claiming homelessness due to it, however I'm not too sure if that is the case with the OP.
They have been in Cornwall since last October but couldn't find accommodation in that time, also she states that she lived with "her" Nan, yet it's supposed to be the partners family in Cornwall.
The council will have investigated fully & if they have reason to find the family intentionally homeless then they probably are. They will be in receipt of all the information.
The very best thing that the OP can do is go all out to secure private accommodation & hope that they get something more than just a winter let.
Maybe Nans landlord has family accommodation.0 -

Regardless of the true facts? We only have the OP to give us those facts... threats to kill.... friends too scared to report to Police.... The advice given is based on the facts given, and not my interpretation of them.0 -
