hi there im really sorry if this is in the wrong place.
up until last october me and my partner and three children lived in surrey. we came to cornwall on holiday in oct last year and while we were here my ex partner threatned my familys lives if we returned to surrey. he also attacked my friend who was looking after my house while i was in holiday, the police were called and they visited my friend to see what had happened, but my friend didnt want to take it any further because he was to scared.
so for my safety and my childrens i decided to stay in cornwall, i lived with my nan up until april this year, which is when she had to make us homeless because she is privately rented accomadation and her landlord was not happy that we were there coz her contract states the house is only for her to stay there.
we went to the council who said we had made our selves intenionally homeless because we gave up a house in surrey.
we never gave up the house in surrey as we still deciding what to do, the social services in surrey informed the council that we were returning and the council gave us a notice to quit on the 7th november 09 and we had to have the house emptied by the 7th dec 09, we couldnt return for our safety so my sister had to collect a few personal bits and drop them off to us.
the council agreed to put us in b and b as a good gesture, on the 23rd april the put us in b and b and also offered to pay the deposit and first months rent on a private accomadation but we had to find somewhere first. we have been looking and just cant seem to find anywhere, we've had viewings for so many places but just never get the place, i dint know what were doing wrong?
anyway in may the council threw us out of the b and b coz we hadnt found someone to live so for two days me and my partner lived in our car while my children stayed with my nan, in which time we got C.L.A to work on our behalf anf they managed to get the council to put us back in b and b. C.L.A are also putting in a review against the fact that they believe we are not intensionally homeless which is still going through the process, so we moved back into the and have we have been in b and b now for a total of of 12 weeks this friday.
we then get our landlady knocking in our door last night at 5pm to say that the council have told her that we have to be out this morning.
we have no one we can stay with and we would end up sleeping on our car again.
i really dont know what to do
if anyone has any advice that would be great
thank you in advance

If Kerrier Council have offered to give you a deposit and first months rent for private accomodation, then I would say they've behaved pretty fairly.
(Note to add- I grew up in Kerrier and my mum is there still, and finding affordable housing is a struggle for natives and long term residents in the area)0 -
thank you for your reply, we have been looking for accomodation but there just doesnt seem to be any thing available. the council offered tp pay the rent and deposit but they aslo said the would pay for the credit checks through an agency but whenever we try to contact them to get this money they never return our calls2013 wins - Dora magical doll and horse, emergency beer box0

Have you tried looking for Private Rentals outside of the area.0

properly formatted paragraphs would help a lot.
your best bet is to call shelter, the free housing advice charity. They can tell you how to navigate your way around the system. Do this right away.
as there is a domestic abuse element to this you should ask for the support charities associated with that on the families board.we then get our landlady knocking in our door last night at 5pm to say that the council have told her that we have to be out this morning.
If you are in private rental accomodation and there has been no court order then you do not have to move out until there is a court order. Anything else is an illegal eviction, which is a criminal offence.
I'm sorry, I can't help more specifically as your statements are so disjointed.0 -
Currently 40 3-bed+ properties within 10 miles of Helston.

Maybe look a little harder...0 -
Not sure where you are in Kerrier but here seems to be a few in Camborne & Redruth that don't say "We don't accept HB"
Here's one in Redruth that states it accepts people on HB if they have a guarantor http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-26561359.html
I know it's only a 2-bed, but maybe you could give the children the bigger bedroom whilst you have the smaller one? TBH if it was me and I had to live in a studio flat or live in a car with my kids I would choose the studio.
I agree with the poster above, surely living in a property, but moving schools is better for your children than living in a car and staying where they are?

Are you in appeal with the IH decision? its my understanding housing should still be provided until the appeal is concluded
Do you have a social worker in cornwall? Maybe someone who deals with your sons special support needs? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
