    Hi All

    Was after some help/advice please!

I've noticed recently that when i accelerate my wheels have been spinning, also they just don't feel like they are sticking to the road (if that makes sense!) The car has recently been serviced and I've checked the tyres and they look fine, not bald or punctured.

Any ideas, I'm feeling like I have little control of my car at the moment.

Sounds like somebody fitted £25 each "Budget tyre's".

I can’t see any way a main dealer is going to fit cheap tyres to a two year old RX8

My money remains on a lsd diff or TC electronic issue

    ^^ RX8?

Has the OP considered that it's a rear wheel drive car? You can't just drive around like your in a family hatchback, traction control or not it's simply a different beast altogether.

Looking back youve been driving 12 years... ok fair enough... But how many rear wheel drive cars have you owned?

Generally if you try to pull out fast in a RWD car your just going to spin the wheels, it needs progressive use of the throttle, not just whacking your foot down.

And if you read the thread the OP's had the car 2 years and this has only started happening recently.

My money's on new shoes :P

Given that the OP has owner the car for two years and states that this has only been happening recently I doubt this is an issue caused by being unable to drive an RWD car.

In my experience FWD cars suffer worse from wheelspin when pulling away from a standstill anyway.

  • There's nothing wrong with RWD, I never get wheelspin or screeching tyres even in the wet even at full power take off without TC, something that will have most FWD cars wheelspinning and torque steering if the don't have TC, RWD has weight transfer working in it's favour.

A light powerful car especially needs good quality tyres, not always the most expensive, but the very cheapest far eastern stuff would be well avoided.

    ^^

Had the car for how long though? we all drive differently in a new car until we start getting used to it.

  • Yes and in post number 2 a reply poster suggested that the tyres may have been overinflated which sounds reasonable enough suggestion for a sudden change.

Assuming the pressures have been checked it still points to tyre (grip) faults, or maybe the pressures haven't been checked which would surprise me, either way if it's wheelspin then the tyres' grip has to be dreadful.
