Me again
Just registered for evanquis no problems at all.
So to conclude this Granite card seems to basically be a Vanquis card in drag

I hate Vanquis :mad::mad::mad:
I had a card with them for over a year. In the time I never went even close to my limit, had a direct debit set up and paid on time every time. So what do I have to dislike about them, I hear you ask?
Well, I changed banks, told them my new direct debit details in plenty of time. All my other accounts were able to carry out this request by the way. Not Vanquis. When I cancelled the OLD direct debit, then plebs cancelled the NEW one instead, so tried to lump me with a late payment fee and late payment marker! Various phone calls and stress to the plebs later, they agreed it was their mistake and they'd refund and not put anything on my file.
I then cleared the small balance in full and left it open to report good o's to my report, but never to use again.
I then moved, notifying all my creditors/banks etc of this fact. Everyone else was able to update their files. Not Vanquis. Oh no. In fact, the idiots sent out a new Silver card plus upped my limit, despite me not using the card for over 7 months or so. Sending these to my OLD address :mad::mad: I had already had someone open an account with Studio using my old address and fake details, so this was not exactly helpful
I have closed my account, but it still isn't showing as closed on my reports. They haven't updated it as closed, but have managed to update the limit on there *rolls eyes* despite the fact that is it closed, so looks like I have more available credit than I do.
I hate their incompetence with a passion, they are complete idiots to deal with and have no clue what the hell is happening in their own offices.
I would avoid Vanquis. If that is the only card you can get I wouldn't bother. Try for a catalogue account or Aqua or Initial as a starter, or more highly recommended - Capital One. Don't bother with these fools.0 -
Credit is subject to: status; telephone contact; confirmation of name and address; not already holding a credit card issued by Vanquis Bank
It is a Vanquis card. It's a different name because they've got such a bad brand name for themselves. Which is ironic, because capital one's classic card has a worse APR than this.0 -
Hi Digitalphase
I am sorry to hear of the problems you have hadThanks for the heads up I will make sure if I need to change anything like address or bank details that I hound them to death until they confirm it has been done.
For me this is the only lender that will give me a chance, my credit files are abismal, terrible nothing dodgy such as CIFAS but 8 ccj's and a string of defaults all from a failed business a couple of years ago, I was really surprised Vanquis gave me a chance after reading numerous threads on here about people that have "fair" credit files and have been declined.
I tried the usual JD Williams and was declined along with Capital one and also Aqua also declined, my wife has a Capital One card and I am an additional cardholder on that, has no impact on my credit file but it is nice to have it in my wallet.
This new Granite card signifies the beginning of a fresh start for me, it will be the best part of 5 years before my credit files start to look acceptable again so as said I am really grateful to them for taking a chance on me, not going to get into a mess with this determined not to, will be paid off in full every month and hopefully I will then see a strig on nice green o's on my files and also and increased credit limit, its funny I dont want an increased credit limit to sepnd, although it will be great for those little emergancies such as wasjing machines breaking etc, I want an increased credit limit because it will be nice to see a creditor has some faith and trust in me to offer it in the first place.
Had a really terrible time over the last couple of years, I have a string of very unhappy creditors but I have avoided bankruptcy which for them means there is a chance of them being paid, I did think of a DRO but again I really "want" to pay what I owe and move on that way.
Anyhow I digressThanks for the heads up.........

I hope you have a positive experience with them and they give you lots of lovely green 0's
Just be sure to not change banks or address and hopefully you'll be fine;)

They should rename this card to BEEN BANKRUPT CARD.0

...but capital one's classic card is higher interest. So it's not the worst. Plus, it's about responsible borrowers. If a borrower was responsbile - they wouldn't necessarily need this card.
If they have no credit and need a card like this, and are responsible, they would know to clear it every month.
Don't blame an organisation for making money. They provide a service and people are free to use or leave it.0 -
My experience of Capital One Classic has been wholly positive. The only downside is the foreign sounding people on the other end of the phone
My interest rate with Cap 1 is 34% if I remember rightly. Vanquis and Aqua were something like 35%. APR varies depending on circumstances.0 -
Capital one classic increased their rate in January to 39.9%0
