It was sorted in the end Billie after a lot of legal wrangling . The bikes? Well it's our word against the councils that they even existed-they say they weren't there..and I guess it's possible they were nicked from his garage.Whats annoyed DH, is that they had access to all his dosh, arranged his funeral (without telling us) but didn't even stretch to giving him a plaque. Guess we'll be doing that..

I think you should be allowed to ask for a breakdown of what was spent on what and where the remainder went to. And also what should have been purchased!! I know that headstones are extra to funeral expenses, but most undertakers put a small wooden plaque on the grave such as "Fred Hones 1936-2009"

That's a point do you know who the undertakers were? Cos you could always ask if a headstone was included, but the Care Home decided against having one!

SRM, it does sound very complicated; my head's spinning reading through what's going on.

It might be best to ask the council/carehome/undertaker for a breakdown of the estate and what went where etc.

Sometimes you just have to walk away from those kinds of situations I think-you never had it to start with so you havent actually 'lost' anything. We had a similiar situation with DH grandmother...I think the stress of it all isnt worth it-tragic and heartless as it is.

Sorry if I speaking out of turn

Not at all Bun-that was advice I gave Dh when he was stressing over it all. Anyway,it was all sorted in the end,'cept he's just discovered the lack of headstone..

  • SRM, love it!

I can feel the sun on my face, the stresses of work slowly seapiing out of my pores and a rather tonned adonis rubbing suntan lotion into my shoulders.
