The only official place to get apps from is the Android Market - you should have a link/widget on your Desire. All other places, you'll need to adjust a setting to allow downloading from places other than the official Market.

True enough that the Android market is the place to get Apps but there are lots of sites where you can find out about which apps might interest you.

androidtapp[dot]com is one that was recommended on a BBC programme I saw recently

Most apps are free. There's an option on the Market to select free apps only. Also try HTCAPPS

If you've got the Barcode Scanner installed, just scan the QR code next to the pictures of the apps and it'll take you straight to the download.

Have the last few posted been moved due to a mod misunderstanding the topic of this post i wonder .
Topic listed as money saving apps not apps in general which is what the moved posts where looking for .

IE Non Money Saving Apps are now lumped under this topic .

I've got the Samsung Galaxy S phone running andorid. I'm really pleased with the phone. I'm on Orange and the 'App Store' on the menu is really just the orange App Store with a limited number of apps. There's also a 'Samsung Apps' menu which is even more limited.

I know there is a very large number of android apps, but whats the best way to find them? It can't really be just via my provider, Orange.

    Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

There should be an app called market which contains all the android apps.

That's great. I've just got that sorted out. I hadn't bothered as I thought it was to do with the stock market. Dumb or what?
