Yeah I hate saying no no no all the time to nights out with my partner who isn't a DFW...
I don't miss the tube now I'm riding my bike
I love that I am always trying to turn a profit off everything I do, even spending money!
I miss takeaways... now if I want one I make myself cook tea and then have a treat of ice cream for £2 - better than £10 on a takeaway
I miss buying books
I hate always looking scruffy compared to friends
I hate that my Mum buys all my clothes because she's a compulsive shopper bargain spotter and she has too many clothes of her own! I never feel like me...:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
I don't miss all the pointless magazines I used to buy! I do miss going and buying my lunch each day as it breaks the day up by going into town but I know if I am sat at work eating my packed lunch I am saving a fortune!Saving for a deposit: £20,551 / £25,000 - 82% of the way there...0

not sure what i miss........... i think spending less money on distractions and more time together has helped me and OH be closer, rather than going out and not really talking to eachother.
anything that's a little luxury means so much more when it doesn't happen often. i don't miss magazines, but if i book a cheap coach ticket instead of the train, i spend £2 on one for the journey becuase i've saved £30-£50 on the trip. and i like it because now it feels a bit naughty!
i almost miss spending time on other webistes apart from MSE......... but not really:happyhear0 -
I miss being spontaneously generous to my family. I don't miss feeling obliged to part with money when people try to persuade me to part with it. (cold callers, random charities, staff collections, staff socials, raffles etc)The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I miss being able to walk into a clothes shop and think £8 on a top is an absolute bargain!! I wince at anything over £3 now for a top and £10 for a pair of jeans/pants.... i stick to basics/classics.. and only buy clothes when i HAVE to.. i also scour ebay for items under £1 so that even with postage it comes under my £3 limit.:o
I miss not attaching a price to EVERYTHING that involves money.. be it shopping or going out.. Anything that is not an essential gets scrutinsed and debated for a long time before i commit to spend.
I dont miss magazines and take-away sandwiches @ lunch, spending £7-10 a day in Tesco when i finished my shift there.. just for no reason as i still lived at home so didnt need to buy food!0 -
I miss my horse, he was lovely
I also miss the general riding, competing etc, I miss the whole lifestyle.
However, I also miss having a second baby - which I don't think I'll ever be able to do due to our debt
On a slightly smaller scale, I miss going out, buying what I want for dinner (M&S steamed chocolate puddings - Mmmmm, smoked salmon etc), buying the kids what they want etc etc.
On the upside, I'm now a woman possessed where it comes to bargains. I love ebaying, coming on here, and finding ever new ways to save money. I've taken up gardening, have a herb garden and am going to try growing my own veg, and have branched out a lot on my cooking, making much more of my own stuff.Debts @ lightbulb moment (13/06/2006) - £59,842.23  All commercial debts now clear!!! :T Debts April - £20,000 to family (incl extra £10k borrowed for house deposit). Thanks to the advice on another thread, I no longer miss the luxury of soft toilet paper:j :j :j :rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

What i miss:
being able to spend what I wanted without really worrying how much something was.
What I thought I'd miss:
facials, manicures (UV gel), fake tan, getting my hair done etc. That little lot alone used to cost me about £300 a month. Now I go to my local hairdresser (not a posh salon) and she does a better job for £20 than the posh one did for £80. All the beauty treatments I get done at my local college now if I want them and I learned (FREE) on the internet how to do a manicure and pedicure. The college only charge £2 per treatment (compared to the £45 I paid to get my UV gel nails done, yep mug I know).
What I don't miss:
I used to buy lots and I mean lots of the glossy monthly fashion magazines and £3 or £4 a shot. Why? Because my flatmates/friends were. I used to wonder what the point was when sitting down with a cup of tea I'd finish reading the magazine before the tea as 80% of the mag was adverts!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
I miss getting my hair cut at my usual salon. I miss the massage and the pampering. But at £40 it was way too expensive. I also miss my little convertible car.Last bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0
