I dont miss anything, cause proir to becoming a DFW, I cannt remember the last time I spent money on something good. All I remember is worrying about the post, and where I was going to get money to feed me and my child. I don't even remember feeling good when I was getting myself into debt!! So I guess its a case of something I dont miss. I dont miss the bad feelings of having no money... Sorry if I put a downer on it!!! But I'm mega happy now!!!! (Maybe I miss luxury toliet paper!! Oooooh that was nice.....)

I miss the lifestyle I had before, going out all the time, always having the latest clothes and shoes, not giving a damn. The holidays, skiing, exotic beaches, city breaks!

What don't I miss, the alcohol fuelled depression which would inevitably follow a heavy night out, the sinking feeling when the credit card statement arrived, the shallowness of my previous life and previous friends.
    Saving for an early retirement!
  • i dont miss the expensive food and drink, and the takeaways as i feel healthier and enjoy making things from scratch now. I used to always buy branded without even thinking about it, and buying shops own is no different at all so i dont miss branded items at all.

I miss going shopping with my mum and my mates and having lunch and buying whatever i fancied. I also miss holidays - but console myself that i will enjoy my hols and shopping much more when i am debt and gulit free and can save to enjoy these treats.

I will be able to relax on hol and not worry about the CC bill when i get home!
  • I miss the spontaneity of just deciding to take a day off and go somewhere - to the seaside, to London, shopping, whatever - without a thought to how much it might cost.

However, I spend so long reading through the MSE forums every day that I don't really have the time to do that any more anyway!

    I miss:

    - Evening meals with friends on the Yorkshire Moors (250 miles from home).

    - My BMW X5 and Rolex Submariner.

    - Weekend trips to Italy.

    - The luxury of being able to answer the phone without checking Caller ID.

    - A friendly greeting from my Bank Manager.

Still, you may lose your memories, but no-one can take them away from you.

I miss being spontaneous and booking a weekend away at a moments notice.

I miss having a holiday this year, especially today as I am tired and cranky.

I miss having a facial and massage once a month.

I don't miss any of the above enough to go back to how things were though! :D Once I am debt free, we will have a fab, relaxing, pampering holiday, if I can tame the finance control freak that grew within me recently  :rotfl:

i miss the freedom of doing things on a whim.
ie movies last minute instead of waiting for special offers, orange wednesday or free screenings.

i also miss not being able to go to all the gigs i once could
i have to plan ahead and think, can i afford it.

i'v also missed out on a few cos i refuse to use my credit card and the tickets have sold out by the time i'v managed to save up.

i cant complain too much as i still allow myself these luxories like i had before, jsut no where near as many.

for example, last year i went to about 6 gigs between oct and dec, this year i'm going to two.

I miss having my acrylic nails done.

I miss having my hair highlighted.

I miss visits to the sunbed salon.

    I miss take outs.

I miss lunch out with my husband when the kids are at school.

I don't miss all the magazines I used to buy. I don't really miss nights out with friends.

I miss doing things with my friends who earn more money than me.

However this does mean when I choose to say 'yes' I enjoy it so much more.
  • Alot of us seem to share most of the same "wants"!!!

    Stuff I miss

    1. Not worrying about money (even when I had a sizeable amount of debt! Stupid, stupid, stupid).
    2. Just doing something if I felt like it.
    3. Just buying something if I wanted one/it.

    Stuff I don't miss

    1. Worrying about which card to spend on next and how to pay for things that I actually needed.
    2. Never having any actual cold hard cash that I could withdraw from a cash machine (as it would all just about pay the minimum payments), forcing me to use my credit card.

    The reality

I don't really miss how I lived pre-LBM. Why? Because I was spending my future earnings, not my own. So now I don't have certain freedoms until I have no debts: I have to be careful with my employment (i.e. I have to have a job!); I can't invest or save money; I can't really justify buying anything expensive or doing anything expensive.

    - I do like having a plan.
    - I do like buying things with my own money, not someone else's that I have to pay back.
    - I do like not having to worry about having no cash or how to pay unexpected bills.

Next year I should be debt free, if I can keep up my current rate of paying debt off. I look forward to it and have learnt that debt is bad, not worth it and should be avoided. :money:
