I live alone and have no freezer, so when I buy a pack of 8 sausages I fry them all at once, then eat them 4 meals in a row.
Here's how I'd use sausages:
- sausage/mash
- giant yorkshire pudding with sausage/mash (I don't do this often enough though because it takes the oven 30 minutes to get hot enough and it's a waste to turn the oven on just for one thing ... but with a freezer you can do this and bake bread or something else)
- slice 2 cooked sausages on the slant so I get long ovals and stuff them in a pitta bread with fried onions and a splash of sweet chilli sauce
- slice 2 cooked sausages up and chuck them in a frying pan with onions and some rice (sausage risotto)0 -
Ha ha maybe I didn't make that clear! I have a freezer! I've frozen them and my ideas just consist of sausage casserole, toad in hole of just with potatoes and veg.
I wish I could have everyone round for a BBQ- no garden :-(

Hi MissShoes,
If it's ideas for sausages you need, there's an earlier thread that should give you lots of inspiration so I'll add your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

Sausage and Veg Kebabs
Skin the sausages and roll the meat into balls (should get about 2/3 per sausage), then stick them on skewers with peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, onion. Bake in oven. Had these for lunch, lovely!0 -
Got some bangers for dinner tonight but I want to do something different. Half the time I just use em for a fry up but any ideas of what else I could do?
Thanks*If you like the advice I give...let me know by clicking the THANKS button*

Toad in the hole?0 -
i squeeze out the meat into little balls balls and use them for meatballs and pasta, the posh flavoured sausages (like sundried tomato, or herb) work really well for this0

Get quality sausage from your local butchers..
two ideas
(1)sausage n mash with onion gravy
finely chop an onion, shallow fry in a pan but only to soften, not until browned. Decant into a fine sieve and use a spoon to squeeze out the remaining cooking oil. Put onion in a pan. Make up some gravy using oxo granules or similar, pour into the onion pan.
Shallow fry sausages, slowly but surely, meanwhile get the potatoes going and mash then using a knob of butter and some milk to make them creamy.
Heat up the onion gravy mix, make sure its medium thick, not too thin.
Serve..enjoy...
(2)strip the skins off your high quality sausages and chop them into meatballs.
Shallow fry just to gently cook n seal, dont brown them!. Leave to one side to drain
Shallow fry some finely chopped onions only to soften, not to brown..add some dried chilli power (Schwartz spice rack)..and mix,fry
Add a pack of ready mixed pasta sauce such as tescos sundried veg/herb/tomato..the sort of stuff you get in plastic tubs in the chiller cabinet with the snap off lid.
Mix and heat
add the sausages...mix n cook gently,,,,put on lid and let it simmer.
Get the pasta on..
Uncork the white wine..
maybe a ciabatta or rustic roll bread?

I regularly make a really easy sausage casserole which is yummy and kids love it!!
I chop one onion, chuck it in a casserole dish, add a tin of chopped tomatoes, a tin of baked beans, salt, pepper and the sausages (sometimes chopped up, sometimes whole) and bung in the oven on 180 for about 2 hours. Very simple but really tasty. We usually have it with rice or cous cous if I'm feeling really lazy, although it's nice with roast potatoes and veg too.0 -
Sausage and mustard pasta. I made this last week and it was delicious. Also a good way of stretching a few bangers.0
