  • I'm getting a bit sloppy in the run up to Christmas I fear!

Capital One being slow to the point of pain hasn't helped, but:

    1) I am chasing Capital One until they send my cheque
    2) I am going to send a LBA to FD soon
    3) Once I have the money from Capital One I am going to settle the Egg Loan and start paying off American Express
    4) It'll take a while to clear but I'll probably try to boost my payments to American Express by doing more matched betting (have been doing the odd bit, which boosts the Quidco earnings I suppose!)
    5) Then it's the home run, the 3.9% debts of M&S and Lloyds :j

Come on DDDK, you can do it!

Ooh I almost forgot, I'm going to move as much as I can from Amex (4.9%) to M&S (3.9%) until the 6 month cut off on M&S balance transfers.

Will speed up paying off Amex but means I'll be paying off M&S for a while...

Hi Guys. I'm sorry I've been absent for a while - as it turns out, 'freelancing' just means working harder for less money (They STILL heaven't paid me )!! And I havent had any time to do updates. Sorry I know it's awful when I nag everyone else!

The upside to all this is that when that money finally does arrive, I'll be quids in! I'm also proud, because if I hadn't become a DFW and sorted out my finances, I never would have been able to survive this giant !!!! up and delay in getting paid, so yippee!

Ok. Off to meet my OH at the train station. See y'all later.

HOORAY! I'M NOW BELOW 16 K!!! :T £15,995 to be precise. That means I've paid off my Amex in full! Yay  I finally got paid from my freelance work. Whopee :j Christmas is of course taking its toll on my money saving goals, but I'm doing my best! I've also left enough in my account to cover my bills for January, to cover the probable absence of work over xmas. Well done me!

    Goals for next week;

    1) Send the four letters re freelance work that I've been putting off!
    2) Get back to the matched betting.
    3) Get decent temping job to cover gap between freelance work.
    4) Pay AT LEAST £100 off debt.
    5) Sort out my bank charges cases which have both been transferred to the mercantile court

Ok. That's all for now folks - sorry I've been away - I'm back now with a vengance!

Ok. I know I'm a bit early off the mark this week, but I have more time to do this today than I will have tomorrow.

Goals for the rest of the year:
1)STAY IN THE BLACK IN MY CURRENT ACCOUNT!
2)Begin to start putting together a new mailshot for freelance work for the new year.

Not that challenging goals I know, but I don't want to set too many as I know that I just wont be able to keep them until the new year - which is probably when I'll post again as I'll be off to visit my parents over the hols. Merry Christmas everyone -

I was also thinking - why don't we all start off our 1st post of the new year with ONE new moneysaving resolution - something we haven't necessarily done before or had much success with - I always find that a new angle makes it all seem much less dull!

  • Hi all,

I'm slogging away here still. The money is in my debt payments current account (from Capital One and that has been saved) and I am waiting until the 21st, when my Direct Debit for my loan goes out, and then paying off my loan then and there!

Then I no longer have my Egg loan. I only have three credit cards to pay off! Yippee!!!

  • Oh yeah, I plan to finish this challenge by next year people!

I will probably start the year with:

    Debt Totals

    M&S: £6789.45
    Lloyds: £1842.06
    Amex: £5594.31
    Total: £14,225.82

With my three credit cards, I hope to really push the balance on the most expensive (American Express) down so that my total debts are less than £10,000 in the first few months of the year, preferably by April at the latest...

Once that's done I will feel sooooo much better.

Then the target will be halving my debt - so £9,636.73.

    I can't wait!
