Yes iPhone4. The other poster said the area makes a difference. 3 got them on the day of release and no dropped signals. I've only had one a few days but it's been fine. If I do experience problems then I'll return it.
you will only encounter the problem where the raw signal strength is about 85-90dBm or lower. you cant see the raw signal strength on the iphone4 but you had this option (by punching in some dialler codes) on the 3gs. but even on the iphone4 there is a round about way of fiddling the software and adding the menu, as others have shown online and then do valid tests rather than relying on inaccurate signal bars. if you see the 3g maps for all the carriers large parts of the uk dont have 3g coverage depending on which network you are on and it will be an issue for data users. if you just want calls then 2g signal will be in most parts of uk but even that will be affected in low signal areas.

Having used all three (briefly for Android admittedly), WebOS is best for me. Far slicker, proper multitasking which you are fully aware of and in control of, hardware keyboard devices. Syncs over the air, forget about plugging into iTunes. I don't have to think about syncing anymore.
you can synch android devices over the air too if you know how! android devices have hardware keyboards too. htc itself is releasing i think 6 models before the year end  3 on android and 3 on the new winmobile software and a few of them have hardware keyboards.

the samsung galaxy s apart from the usual methods of over the air synching via bluetooth or wifi, can also function as a DLNA streaming receiver or streaming device which none of the phones on the maket can claim to do (to my knowledge). android is multitasking too which you can control if you wish too and will be stable as based on linux which has been there for years.

WebOS is the only OS that can multitask. iOS and Android can't multitask as WebOS does. Its a real shame that Palm made such poor phones in the Pre and Pixi.

I am sure HP will do good by them and they are on a spending spree and i expect them to make a very very good phone that will compete with the likes of HTC, Apple and the others.

Google, RIM and even Apple looked at getting their hands on Palm.

WebOS is the best OS around with an amazing UI but the Pre did it no justice. Stick WebOS on a Desire, iPhone or the new Samsung phones and it would be the best phone around.

The problem with WebOS is that it is so flawed and was need of aquesition that it may never take off, it seems they have yet to fix all the massive security flaws found where a simple SMS can take over the phone, this is one reason investors have pulled out, even Palms chief Technical Officer Aaron Higbee was shock when this was discovered, It has only been saved by HP. Systemic, architecture issues stretching across the entire platform have lead potential corporate clients to look for smart phone alternatives. Even consumers are wary of any security threat they may not fully understand will end up doing the same, whether the issue has been corrected or not. Remember uncertainty sometimes becomes a bigger problem than the problem itself as Apple are finding out at the moment. We won't even mention the new bug that is effecting GPS on WebOS ATM. Although HP are trying to pull back in the USA by offering free phones to business customers it may be a little to late as by the time they make a phone that people want today better will be out by others, remember as Apple and Android have proven people are remaining loyal to systems come what may, you only have to look at Nokias dominance in the past. Hp do not have that good a reputation regarding problems really, not even taking into account the sales of computers the HP business phones which in effect ws an effort to build on the ipaq ended up a total flop with Blackberry dominating the market they aimed for, add to that how many older users like myself remember the old Palm stuff and still distrust it. As for saying "Android can't multitask as WebOS " It can be said WebOS can't multitask as windows mobile and Android does. no real argument there as most users only need simple multitasking. Another issue will be now HP have got their hands on it there is a danger of restriction of apps as Apple have done, HP even said in a press conference the dropped android because they could make more money from the business user with a restricted OS the exclusively own, whereas Android being primarily Linux based can never really be anything other than open source based and as such anyone can make apps. This has the advantage to the user of meaning anyone who want to charge for apps on it has to make sure they are perfect to sell. In conclusion Apple and Android will continue to dominate for a good few years yet with Win7 mobile creeping up alongside WebOS and unless both make a viable tablet with the same portability of apps the phone has, as have Apple and Android, then they will drop further back, to date windoze efforts are pathetic WebOS keep promising.

I bought a cheap Pulse Mini phone running Android 2.1. I wanted to see if I would like it better than symbian, and I do by a long way. The phone isn't great - average screen, poor mp3 player and camera - but for features and speed android trounces symbian.

Previously I owned lots of Nokias but I can see myself moving to an HTC or a Samsung in the future.

I almost went for an iphone, but prices put me off completely. I got the HTC desire instead which I think is a great phone, but as I've never owned an iphone before I can't really compare it properly, just only based on the specs etc. It's customisable and I like that you can increase the amount of storage by just buying a bigger micro SD card.

I have a Blackberry but it's for work so don't really use it much.

As for which is useful I think it really depends on your needs!

WebOS has the most natural, accessible multitasking, of that let there be no doubt. Android's 'cloud' syncing setup is good, but not as good as WebOS, as there's more faffing about involved in setup. Hardware KB is my preference, and at least with Palm and Android(s) I have that choice.
Like all Palm fans, I'm waiting (im)patiently for HP to announce some killer kit. The Pre is only 18 months old - shows how quickly smartphones are moving along these days!

Update, Samsung delivered Galaxy S this morning along with shall we call it phone x as there is no name for it yet and just in test period. So far Galaxy S is superb beats the HTC and iphone hands down, set up very easy. Screen very clear and responsive, on first looks if it wasn't for saying samsung would mistake it for iphone and makes HTC look like a cheap alternative. Phone x. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! roll on it's release, 18 months they say, this will revolutionise the way a lot of people do things. I can't get hold of it atm my development lads have nicked it and seem to be drooling at the mouth and stroking it fondly :D. I am not allowed to say much about it bar it's android. Will keep you updated.
