I usually just get some decent quality (acid-free) card - dark coloured makes a nice contrast but that's entirely down to taste and arrange them then place some sticky backed plastic over them or place directly into a clip frame to hold them in place. I certainly can't confess to being an expert though and it's just something I do with my daughter to keep her occupied sometimes!:)

I'm sure it could make a nice present.x

I wish I'd thought of this when the Aquilegia was out - I love them and I had gorgeous shades of wine & purple. I can't be bothered doing too much in the way of faffing about - but just a wee thing to add into a box for xmas would be nice. I have shoved some cornflowers and some yellow poppies into a big book, then piled a lot more on top, so will see how that goes .. :)

I found a 4-leaf clover a couple of months ago (my first one EVER) and pressed it between several thicknesses of loo-roll sandwiched between thin pieces of card - and placed the lot under a mini chest of drawers. You've just reminded me that it's there Mardatha!

As long as you put paper towel or something similair to suck up the water it should work Mardatha. Pansy type flowers work well too and look so pretty. You can use them as a border to old fashioned pictures to frame them on a card too. or just as a spray in the corner of a card.

Not done much today except put some overgrown rocket on the compost heap. I've pulled some seed pods off though for using next year. Made a casserole for dinner and thats about it. Am panicking now,we have 2 lambs coming to live in our field sometime this month. Dont know why I'm panicking.

..and of course Mardatha - i gather that its traditionally those huge heavy old-fashioned family bibles that got used for flowerpressing.

Unfortunately the one that was in my family - which I recall seeing as a child and it was positively enormous - went astray.....:(...

..<thinks - "wonder if thats given Mardatha the strength to rise from her sickbed/couch - at the mere thought of me mentioning Family Bibles....":rotfl::rotfl:

I am very excited! I am about to make my next step into Old Style-ness!!! I spoke to my new neighbours who are on the ground floor about the planters and pots that are in the front garden (well, yard) - I asked them if they were theirs or whether they had been left behind by the previous owners...they said that they weren't theirs so I asked if they would mind if I re-planted them. Well, my neighbour didn't even let me finish my sentence, she was really eager for me to do it!! :j I am delighted, because it is technically their property! So I am going to plant a few little pretties, but mostly herbs and some hardy veg (I am thinking lettuce at this time of year) - does anyone have any ideas on what would be good? Any hints and tips v welcome!
