I use Ravelry for everything - they have lots of spinners groups and sheep-to-sweater groups. I thought I'd like using a hand spindle but I didnt, but I like knowing HOW to if it was ever necessary.
I had a meltdown on Ravelry yesterday :mad::mad: - started a new, rushed, last minute lace scarf for a xmas pressie. I dont like lace knitting, I like colour work and Fair Isle stuff... plus this was an American pattern... and I could NOT get this pattern to work out so I did the obvious sensible mature thing. I had a major tantrum in public on Ravelry :D
But between me and about 10 nice kind american knitters, we got it sorted and the knitting goes on !

Yes! I was thinking of getting rid of the TV and being properly old style. I thought I would go to bed earlier and save on heat and leccy. But instead I stay up watching great programmes. Very unOS indeed.

  • Lost my post again - found myself teleported to the mealplan thread - but no sign of my post there either - mystery.

Just wanted to thank ceridwen and madar, er Mardatha for the spinning etc links. Off to look at Ravelry now and pretend it counts as work. Knitting is something I don't want to do (well, I do - am always seduced by handspun, handyed wool - but don't have time to explore everything textiley) but like to know that I can - even if all my garments would have to be made out of squares sewn together. Somewhere I have got a booklet that tells you how to make every imaginable garment out of squares and rectangles - no increasing or decreasing. Made one about 20yrs ago for DD1 out of slaty greys and blues from my mother's wool stash - she'd stopped knitting. And my grandmother used to make randomly stripy jumpers (proper shaped ones) for her great grandchildren out of all her odds and ends of balls of wool. I used to love them. DGS (her DGGGS) is still wearing a couple of them now!

Have missed all this telly. Our freesat dish is in the only place it will get a signal but the absolute worst place for the weather so it is not as good as the old analogue TV signal. Which wasn't that brilliant either! Saw about three minutes of The Apprentice last night and then gave up. Tbh I'd rather read. Rest of the family get a bit fed up though.
