I woke up really seriously ratty. All achey and sore.. and checked my weight on the low carb diet that NEVER FAILS to get the weight off. Well I've managed to PUT ON a pound !!!
Didn't have a good sleep last night as the RV was zonking around the bedroom saying he heard a mouse. (well he actually said rat but he's such a drama queen ) I said how can you tell the difference - has a rat got noisier feet? and he told me I was a halfwit :D

We got woken up at 3.25am, by our house alarm going off. Something had bumped into the french doors downstairs cos that was the one that had gone off, no idea what though. Nobody to be seen and it is not easy access into our garden.

We do get a monsterous striped cat coming in over next door's wall sometimes, so I don't know.

Struggled to settle down and go back to sleep again.:mad:

Also feeling ratty Mar. :( Very ratty.:mad:

You are very calm for a woman who is sharing a bedroom with a rodent and I'm not talking about Ratty Virgo here.

I have gone VERY far astray in my OS endeavours. Been tempted by eBay to buy rare and unusual plants, as I adore them so much. On Tuesday I had to increase my overdraft and yesterday the reality of what I was doing hit me with such a shock: I received 17 (SEVENTEEN!) packages of plants! Even the postman commented on that! I have got to get back on track, so I'm looking to you to help. Please offer me encouragement, ideas or even chastisement!
Hi Betony, what sprang to my mind was Martin's Money Mantras

    Do I need it?
    Can I afford it?
Have I checked if it's cheaper anywhere else?
If you answer NO to any of these, then DON'T BUY IT!!!

Now if only I were perfect and followed my own advice! :D
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

If you WERE George Osborne, I would be calling you more than your given name! :D

You are ALL right of course. But, I'm so weak-willed. My plan was to propagate from these plants and sell the offspring back on eBay, but that would be a few months away. Many of the people I've won from do that, just to self-finance their hobby

I didn't sleep well either, but I got up in a good mood.

Spent 45 minutes in my (empty) pond fishing out all the buddliea heads that I put in last weekend for fear of having a compost heap full of sprouting buddlieas in the spring. The morning is bright and crisp, and I felt refreshed when I came in.

Daughter came downstairs on a massive low and ripped my head off when I spoke to her - as she is wont to do when on a bad low, and which is most of the time.

So I came on here cos I felt a bit fed up, only to find people applauding the decision to turf long term tenants out of their council houses (which I live in) in their old age because they don't need 3 and 4 bedroomed houses, and it's left me feeling more than a little peed off!!!

I know this house doesn't belong to me, but this is my home for goodness sake. Maybe people should stop and think how they would feel if they were turfed out of the house and home that they had lived in for years before clapping their hands and saying "here here"

Sorry you're having a bad time with your dd <<hug>>

please don't get stressed about the social housing thing, it will be a long time before that affects you, if it ever does; another point of view though - after my dad died and we had all moved out, my mother was left in a rambling 3 bedroom house which she couldn't afford to heat and a huge garden she couldn't cope with; she asked to be moved and was offered a choice of a sheltered flat or a 2-bed house with garden; people aren't going to be turfed out onto the street, just into the right-sized housing for them ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Parsonswife from other things you have said I think you live in the London bit of Kent, don't you? Just to say it could well have been an urban fox, they are always setting off security lights round us.

Though that doesn't compare to the drama we had one Sunday evening last year when a fully grown stag was charging up and down the road. I called the police and they sent an RSPCA rescue unit along and he said it's more common than you might think to get them coming that far into the suburbs
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
