Why are downstairs bathrooms THAT bad?!?

If it's got only a downstairs loo then I wont even bother looking at it.
Alot of the terraced housing in Northwich where I have been looking have only one bathroom, it's upstairs, BUT it's an ensuite to the rear bedroom. That is the only bathroom. That happens to alot of them too for some reason.
My girlfriend's sister lives up in the Lakes and her bathroom is effectively in the basement! Bit of a strange cottage house thing.
Much like my mate whose garden is upstairs as his house is built into a hill."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -
My Mrs wont let anyone in the house without it being spotless...I even mow the lawn before viewings! Just about all the walls are neutral colours and well finished. You wouldn't have to decorate anywhere immediately at all and only to put your own stamp on it.
Photo's are always subjective, but each one is bright and shows the room looking uncluttered and tidy in my opinion.

All the EAs I have spoken to say it is priced right, the simplicity of mouseprice even suggests it's undervalued.
Really nice house though. I am ignoring the price of course as that is obscene, but then I live up north so what do i know?! :rotfl:"I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"

Looks pretty nice in the photos IMO.
Houses of this age are usually a compromise for modern living (stairs in the kicthen for instance) so people who are after a character style property will accept that BUT at that sort of price band I would absolutely say there has to be some way of showing you can get at least a toilet upstairs and certainly consider getting it done yourselves at that price band
What is the property opposite you - some sort of commercial unit? Could that be affecting things?
I don't know Maidenhead at all but looks similar to many of the types of street in Reading. Things like your off street parking and garage must be big pluses but I would also say a floorplan is an absolute muust with your details. Most of the similar houses around you have them
Good luck0 -
Why no floorplan? I love a good floorplan.

I agree with Riq, ask the EA to put a floorplan on there, also you have fab sized bedrooms so get some photos of them on your details.
Actually because the bedrooms are all a really good size, could you maybe draw up a rough plan* showing an upstairs wetroom being made out of sections stolen from 2 of the bedrooms? Without a floorplan it's hard to see if this could be done (another reason to add a plan).

* Plans don't have to be to architect's level, just good enough for someone to see where the walls and bath room fittings would go0 -
GB ive clicked on your link and think your house is lovely. We have been looking at properties and found them full of damp or smelly/dirty, so a nice clean up to date property is attractive to buyers.
If you wanted to go ahead with installing an upstairs loo and basin then get some quotes in, but watch you dont spend lots of money not to get it back (you still might sell to someone who isnt bothered that the bathroom is downstairs)!
Over my lifetime Ive lived in a terrace with an outside lavvy in the 70's (brrrrr in winter)! and now live in a semi with an ensuite and a downstairs loo as well as a family bathroom and to be honest i cant wait to move out cos im the only one who cleans - and thats 3 loos to sort out.
Hang on in there..... if all houses in the street are the same layout i would say that is the 'norm' and wouldnt bother changing it. Keep postive!
All the best xLogic will get you from A to B but imagination can take you anywhere!
Being honest may not get get you a lot of friends - but it will get you the right ones.
Let your past make you better, not bitter.0 -
What's that junk beside the grey building in the garden?
It looks nicely done, but not enough pics to show me what the rest is like. A floorplan would be a good idea.0 -
Thanks again for the comments.
The building opposite, I am assume you streetviewed, is a hospital, but with no A&E. We found it great when the Mrs was pregnant with our kids as it meant just going over the road for appointments
All the other houses in the terrace are 2 beds with downstairs bathrooms and gardens that are half the width.
The 'junk' is just kids toys.
The EA we are with doesn't often do floor plans but I may well ask them to do one for us. Regarding bedroom/bathroom pictures, I always feel they have limited use as you generally just see a bit of bed and a window or bath/sink and window.
Still maybe the ad does need a bit more about it to entice folk in.0 -

I know what you mean about photos of bedrooms & bathrooms never being great, but I use them more to see if the bathroom suite is white and whether I will have to decorate rooms straight away or whether I can live with it as it is.

PS I wouldn't worry about the kid's toys in the garden I find it a bit odd if I see a family home where there are children's bedrooms on show, but with no signs of children's play stuff in the property.0 -
Wouldnt have a downstairs bathroom EVER, only upstairs, as easy access to clothes, away from visitors, and you can stagger out the bathroom in the nod, without worrying about prying neighbours eyes.
Imagine after sex in the Afternoon/Morning/Evening to have to get clothed appropriately (as curtains are probably open, or a consideration that they may be open) before you can stagger to toilet through lounge kitchen etc for tissues or a cleanup or whatever else you want to do, like jump in the shower maybe!!!!
Downstairs its more than enough to just have a downstairs WC IMO.Plan

I didn't realise the bedroom was so big, why don't you get the rear of the garage bedroom turned into a bathroom? Or at least show a floorplan so that people can see if it's possible to do that. With no pictures of any of the bedrooms I would assume you have some sort of problem up there.0
