I just expect you to practise now, and amaze yourself with your prowess. Practise makes perfect, or so they say.

Ohmygoodness - this place is full of people! Please will some kind soul put the kettle on - sorry to step over you - oh sorry, did you get dripped on? Hovel Lady - here's my first attempt at virtual moist Bakewell Tart, if you don't mind cutting it up I'm sure we will have some takers. Let me know how it goes, as I say I've never made it before but the coconut sounded too nice not to try.

No, I kept it out of the rain, that's not why it's called 'moist'...
lovely virtual baking, but not sure on the cheese straws, i'd never heard of them till i'd moved here and they're just seem strange in my head, them and cheese scones i mean how weird??? lol
Lemon Tree, you don't know what you're missing! :D
Mind you I like cheese (Wensleydale of course) with fruit cake - and me a Lancastrian by birth, I'll never live it down.
Tis Lemon Tree as it was one of my nicknames at some stage, my name got twisted around and then just changed by my now BIL. I do like lemons though especially in lemon drizzle cake. :)
I think I've just worked out your name. :) Lemon Drizzle Cake is gorgeous - perhaps I should make one of those next time? :D
you needn't worry about me on the piano front, i've yet to find someone to give me lessons though i guess i could find my book out and start the scales again. I really must learn how to sight read though, forgotten everything i learnt as a child.
I think you have found yourself a teacher ;) £30 a go though! Ani, you've got to be good! :D

Start with middle C with the thumb of your right hand. 2nd finger on D, 3rd finger on E, Cross your thumb underneath for F, follow on for G, A, B C. There you go. 8 fingers. You can now play the scale of C with the right hand.

Apply this technique whichever key you are playing.

    Like F Major? ;)

If you want to show off and sound really profficient, start on middle C with the thumb of the right and left hand and work in the opposite direction for the left hand using the same techique as for the right hand.

I can do that! :D Not a lot else, but I can do that...
    That'll be 30 quid, thanks :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That, on the other hand (and yes, I keep them separate till fluent, or at least reasonably fluent) I can't do. :)

I had a piano and had every intention of learning to play, but having learnt and played violin when I was little, I just can't read the bottom line of music. My head is stuck in a treble clef :o

I've discussed this with my piano teacher and we came to the conclusion it's common to many of us (I started with the violin too). In fact after several years I'm probably still more fluent in the treble. It's worth making a huge effort and working on the bass though - and one day you will surprise yourself and actually find you are reading the bass not just working it out.

More Bakewell Tart, anyone? Ani, you might need a cloth to clean those keys before you demonstrate, I think they're getting a bit sticky.

By all means. In fact, please finish it off so I'm not tempted.

I'm sorry for disappearing last night. My computer froze, i could only get blank screens, and its been difficult to log in this morning. I've been having trouble with my emails all week, too. Back to all that again. One day, in the not too distant future, i'm going to be completely computerless.

One rule of thumb re piano playing. Always practise both hands seperately before putting together. You know it makes sense.

I'm afraid i'm not keen on bakewell tart, and i don't like coconut. I never understood the attraction of bounty. :D

DH tells me we can 'spend the night on the summit of Rigi, to enjoy the sunrise'.

He then added: 'If it does rise.'
