Hi Miggy,
I promise I'm not spouting vegetarianism at you, but have you tried quorn mince? It's low in fat and cheaper than chips. It has a decent amount of protein and really does cook up as good as normal mince. Maybe you could try one little bag to see how you like it as spaghetti bolognese etc? It's the same consistency and all the Mr Supermarkets tend to have them on special. Either 2 for 1 or 2 for £2 or 3 for 2 offers.
I'm so sorry to hear the bike was stolen. I'm so attached to my bikes I'd be heartbroken if anything happened. Do you have sufficient home insurance to cover the loss?
Is it really likely your DH's job will go? That can't be a good feeling. You're doing great with working it all out though, but I completely understand how concerned you're feeling. I really hope things work out ok Miggy. x0 -
Hello Muffy,
Thanks for the message! I had almost forgotten Quorn mince but we have some in the freezer - great idea, especially to help keep my cholesterol and weight down! DD and I both eat it but sadly the men are averse. I think I might ask DS1's g/f, who's a dietician, to extol its virtues and sees if she is more credible than I am!
I do like it better than meat actually: I was a vegetarian for a couple of years but I gave up because it was getting too difficult to cook separately. I still prefer vegetarian food though.
The job: two out of ten posts have to go i.e. a 20% chance of DH being out of work. There are various things in his favour but the same could probably be said of other people too. The other thing that might happen is he gets a post but not locally, which of course would push bills up.
And the good news is I've lost 2lbs! How are you doing?I hope mine's 'real' and stays lost.

I've given more thought to whether to apply for some of the hours that are coming up at work but I've had a grotty run of shifts due to not being able to get enough sleep between times. I'm taking this as a sign that it really wouldn't do my health any good. I'd rather be cutting corners elsewhere than ruining my health. The evidence is stacked against night shifts however well I might be able to manage my sleep in between times - and I can't always.
I can still get a few extra hours at work though and in fact that's happening this week
Okay now I am going to get up (been catching up after working last night) and get the first of this gorgeous weather! It's Mum's birthday so I'm going to spend some time with her.Miggy

You know when you have a tune going round in your head?
"Tell Cosette I love her and I'll see her when I wake..."
Hoping I can get it out of my head by writing it down - it's been nearly two weeks!Miggy

that's a long time for a song to be in your head, hope it's gone now, have you tried replacing it with another song?
some good thoughts there about what you can cut back, hopefully it won't come to that for you.0 -

Alas no, it's still there - though for a while it alternated with 'Do you hear the people sing?' and for one day, bizarrely, it was replaced by the Battle Hymn of the Republic.Miggy

So yeah.....getting back on track but it's still tough... Would the bus be cheaper or cycle to work Miggy? or is that dumb and impractical? Sorry if it is...
Hugs
