  • That's if it all works out Becs! But I do think it seems like a perfect DFD, a chance to start over, new year, NO DEBT :j

I will still be here to encourage you all though and this diary will continue on as a savings diary...I don't see the point in starting a new one, that way I can stay with you lot and not be throwing it in people's faces that I will be debt free.

Plus, I don't want you lot slacking off :p

I can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like to be facing 2011 DEBT FREE!

I'm not even sure I would be able to sleep at night for excitement if I was you :)

  • I could barely focus on anything but that yesterday! I don't think I did much work as all I could think about was getting the figures down and trying to be debt free by Christmas!

In all seriousness though, if I do become debt free it isn't much of an achievement. I started in June, fell off the wagon and started to focus on it in August. I've only had just under £1100 to shift, which is nothing really, I should have cleared it in like 2/3 months not 6...

  • Hi Pennies
Have just come across your diary and I wish I had of seen it sooner. I've just started my own diary and have started reading others too, only there are so many and they are so long I can't keep up! lol.
I just wanted to say I think it is fab you have got £1100 down in 6 months! If I can do the same, I will be chuffed! Fingers crossed for getting your debt rid of by 2011!

Debt is all relative to the individual and their earnings Pennies, so you shouldn't knock your achievement x

  • Yes but with my wage I should have cleared it much sooner, the problem is I wanted to have a life and live at the same time so I still ate out etc when it could have gone to the debt...oh well when it's all cleared I doubt I'll be thinking about it anymore!

  • It's about finding the right balance though. I'm sure I will be the same as you, doing things such as eating out when that could have gone on the debt, but if I don't have any kind of life till my debt is paid, I will be more likely to fall off the wagon. You have still been very focused from what I have read of your diary so far so I am sure you will have paid it off quicker than if you had just been paying the minimum. Be proud of your achievement you have done well.

  • I must admit I've been a little naughty...as I mentioned at the beginning of my diary, I have been saving at the same time as repaying my student loan.

My VSP and £2 coin pots are obvious proof of it although my total is higher than those combined...I'm not going to unveil my total until I'm debt free though as I hope to both pay off the debt and put a large chunk in to my savings by the end of the year.

    Is that really really naughty?

Never ever knock your achievements :)

We all buy things we shouldn't and do things we shouldn't along the way - it's all part of the road to debt freedom!
Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j
  • I just feel that compared to some of your totals mine is not that great :o

Am aiming high in savings for 2011...OH has £3000 in savings already, need to beat that I think!
