If My Pennies Were Pounds...

Well I went online to pay the odd £20 off my student loan so that I would have a round £1k to pay off. When I went online I've been paid a day early so the £26 that gets taken off my wages has been deducted too. Now sub £1k, really happy

My debt is now £974 :j:j:j:j:jVSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
Is the problem at work fixable ? Is it certain people ?
Well done on the payment0 -
Was a client, or rather an ex-client now, so yes it seems that the issue is fixed

I'm just happy to be sub £1k, I have a been giving the loan some thought though. Although I know that I can pay the loan off quite quicky, I still have this issue with HMRC passing over the money from my wages in April. I think I should make April my DFD as they have said that I will need to phone them closer to when I think I'm nearly repaid in full so that they can make sure it is accurate and I don't overpay.
So tonight I think I will make a plan to have it paid in full by April...VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
That's a good plan to have and nice result on getting rid of the client0

Hi Pennies, I am reading, just not posting much!
Good work on getting under £1k, three figures seems so much less than four (in my humble opinion!)
April is a good target to clear the debt, will mean a very happy spring and summer for you!
Oh yeah, I cleared off the pence on my two credit cards with this month's payment after you mentioned how annoying they were on your loan - so true!0 -
Yeah it seems to be a bit of an obsession of mine about money, I like nice even figures!

And MustStopSpending you are right, 3 figures is so much better to look at than 4!
Have transferred £24.12 into the VSP today, think I might be slightly OCD about the even figure thing as with the VSP you are supposed to round down to the nearest £10 in your bank so I should have only paid £4.12 but I moved the extra £20 to take my ISA up to the next £100 mark
Think we will have quite a few spends this weekend as we have just been paid and plan on getting the stuff to decorate our bedroom, plus need a couple of new outfits for big family occasions that are happening the next two weekends...VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
Well I didn't end up spending as much money at the weekend as I thought!
We got the wallpaper for the bedroom, went in to homebase and the one we liked was reduced from £17.99 a roll to £8.93! :j Also got a couple of tester pots for the room (we're only papering one wall) as we don't know which colour to go for and a couple of new cushions for on the bed as we are totally changing our colour scheme. Total came to £63.56 but we had £50 of vouchers from xmas so only cost £13.56 :j
Going to really start trying to get the room done now, we've been meaning to for ages but other things keep cropping up! I need to get to ikea for the rest of my wardrobes! I bought the doors in the january sales, reduced from £250 per set to £50, we needed two sets so saved £400! Just need to get the rest of them now...
Had another 2 £2 coins at the weekend so I think the sealed tin is at about £150 now...having a competition with MIL to see who can save the most, we started in January and not sure when we are meant to be opening them...

Hi Pennies!
Hope all is well with you, glad you got your paper cheaper from Homebase. It's so nice to pick up a bargain!
When we moved house earlier in the year, we got a lot of our furniture from Asda. It was dirt cheap and quite sturdy and it didn't look like tat - I expected it to, but I was wrong.
But Ikea is lovely, if you don't mind cursing at the instructions! I can never do them and usually walk off in a huff! :rotfl:0 -
Hi Smilerwoman,
We did the same, when we moved in last January we bought a furniture package from Tesco but to be honest it is now looking a bit cheap and the style in not really to our liking.
I think we are going to spend more this time, on the understanding that it will last longer and won't need replaced for a considerably long time! That's the plan anyway.
Plus the furniture that we have at the moment doesn't match my idea for the redecorating! :rotfl:VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
I'm always interested in other people's interior design!! Hope it goes well xx0
