    I'm 36.

When I was 18, I had £1000 on my Access card and can remember the sleepless nights and visits to CAB for help - I was that worried.

Since then, I've constantly had a credit card and have always owed a reasonable amount on that.

Nowadays, I'm about to finish the payments on my Impreza (which I intend to keep for a few years rather than upgrading again) and am constantly looking forward to pay day so I can clear a bit more debt, although I don't think that my situation is too bad.

Just contemplating a house move which would increase my debt all over again........
  • I'll be 25 on Saturday!
I started off my adult life incredibly responsibly- then I discovered my interest free student overdraft some time during my second year at uni and it all went to pot from there. Theoretically with OH's debts added in we should be out of debt by the time I'm 27 and he's 36!
    I hope I haven't just jinxed us...

  • Another 35 year old here. Only wish I'd woken up earlier. Definately agree that money management should be taught in school.

I'm 29, although had my lightbulb moment at 28... still struggling to make a real dent though!
  • I'm 30 and had my lightblub moment only 2 months ago when a letter from the bank arrived asking why I'd made no repayments to my overdraft for so many months. I realised then that I had to clear the CC and overdraft and now I'm also keen to pay off the loan I took out for home improvements.

Like so many others here, I wish I'd learnt about personal finance much sooner, as I'd be far better off now than I am!

    Im 25

At 21 I had £9000 savings and 2 cars. what went wrong:confused: Im now 4 years older and am now twice that in debt. Im not making excuses its mostly due to my stupidity (although the ex done me for £2k) and me burying my head in the sand and ignoring my spiralling debt.
