I'm 37 in debt since 25 (first baclaycard!) hope to be debt free at 40
  • Only just turned 26.

Found this place and joined up Dec 05. Had dimmer moment (as in it got a bit brighter) for a long time about a year after uni. But didn't do anything about it. Then around Dec 04, had a pre-LBM - still didn't do anything about it. Around July 05 had the full on LBM (and lots of tears and stomping) and still didn't do anything about it til Sept 05!

As you can see from my sig I've done really well since then - although it's not up-to-date tbh. Since starting uni again and a massive delay in my bursary coming through (might not be through until mid-Dec which will be almost 3 MONTHS!!!!! since we started the course) I've had to use my CC to pay bills and feed myself, so that's built up (ok it's maxed - it wasn't totally clear at start of uni cos of genuine emergency I didn;t manage to clear in time but luckily I reduced my credit limit by £750 before I started uni - if I hadn't it would probably be a lot worse!!!). I am currently awaiting the outcomes of my career development loan application (to put into ISA and savings) and my access to learning application, plus I have my sponsorship money due to come through in the next month. So paying off the CC will be no probs (the limit is £500) it's just in the meantime that's the problem.

I'm 30 a week today. Got a mortgage when I was 20 but got into debt when I was 23ish and paid off cc/loans etc when I was 26. Still learning how to 'stick' to my budgets and save money but its a lot easier now I've found this site. Starting to pay off the extra we put on our mortgage now. :)
Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!

I'm 26 and was in debt from age 19. The lightbulb was a flickery thing for me - realised I was a 'yoyo debtor' when I was about 23. No debt now (except student loan) since 17.11.05. You never forget that date.
  • I'm 29, and I've been in debt since I met my fella!!!

Debt free May 2016 (without the support of MSE forum users that would never have been possible - thank you all)

  • I'm 37.

At 32 the only debt I'd ever had was a mortgage that I'd paid off when I was 29. By half way through 33 I was somewhere between £15k & £20k in debt :o
